I hear the mayor was there so that he could let the media know that some of his artwork will be sold from the gift store.

These people do a teriffic job,I would be lost if they were not around, walk a day in my shoes with a 22 year old multihandicapped daughter, they do a great service for her,the workshop gives her a great independence other wise should would just be stuck day after day in front of a stupid tv,some of their buses are well worn and still in service, maybe should should visit one of these workshops and then you would understand the work that goes on there.

Another waste of taxpayer money. Wait till the next MRDD levy comes up for a vote - NO way will it pass.

You're right! In the Boards minutes they have decided to build 2 new Centers (75 person capicity) to replace the Bath Center (150 person capicity)with, a levy on the ballon in 2008? Yet, in the minutes they've already obtained the funding from the State and, a loan from the bank. The Bank will not require MRDD to make "any" payments until the levy passes? But, what if the levy doesn't pass? And, why are the Citizens in Summit County being asked to pay for the new construction when, MRDD has already been 'given' the money from the State from both, the services being billed out as well as from direct grants? And, don't forget the sale of the Bath Center, MRDD is receiving more than $1 million dollars over the value of the Center as a 'bonus' to sell the property?
No one would deny MRDD the funds to continue their services but, they already have the money? Just a thought. Joyce

The statement that MRDD hasn't chosen the 2 new Centers is false. In the August and, September MRDD Board Minutes the locations are listed as being in Cuyahoga Falls and Barberton. In fact, MRDD has a Public Hearing scheduled with the City of Barberton Planning Department on November 15th @ 7:30 PM?
Why would MRDD want to keep the locations from the publics knowledge?

In the August and, September 2007 MRDD Board Minutes the locations are listed as being in Cuyahoga Falls and Barberton. In fact, MRDD has a Public Hearing scheduled @ City Hall with the City of Barberton Board of Zoning Appeals Committe on November 15th @ 7:30 PM to, discuss the property located @ 503 W. Hopocan Avenue. MRDD is requesting a variance to reduce the required minimum corner side and rear yard setbacks for future non-residential development.
Come to the meeting or call the City of Barberton Service Director, Elwood Palmer with your comments!

If you only knew how those retarded people are treated at those work centers youd be appalled i used to be with a woman who bragged about slapping one around. How she would eat their lunches and steal their meds. She works(ed) at the Bath center. A real psycho who slipped through their screening process. Just make shure you know whos working at those places

I do feel for the mentally challenged children in our world. If anyone needs help, they do.
