They aren't in Idaho anymore. 10 SBC church members from Idaho and Texas have been jammed into a small room at Haiti's judicial police headquarters after trying to take children out of the country.

JQA, I'm not trying to "settle our differences of opinion," I'm pointing out why you sound like a douchebag.

Do you have any proof of ownership other than that your ancestors killed off most of mine and ruined our land?
I waited a few minutes before replying again but I think you should know that I am from the Carolinas.

Several people from my Mother's side of the family are Cherokee and Catawba. We are registered with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Tribes out of Cherokee, NC.

I don't tell everyone this information all the time because I am not looking for your sympathy.

Just for kicks I'll let you know my Mother has always called me Hawkeye and I still hunt most of the time with a bow.

Hey Grandpa Smurf, what tribe are you from?

First I never criticized our country, I criticized Americans who think they can force their will or religions on people who didn't ask for it. Second, find someone who says the Army overpayed them LOL, it was a joke. Third, isn't it ironic that I learned my attitude, thankfully, from none other than the United States Army.
One thing I learned from being in other nations was I thank my lucky stars I live here in the United States, and proud to say I do so. Another is that people from other countries are indeed people most just trying to eek out a living and take care of their families in places where the governments enslave, discard, and ignore them, as human beings they deserve respect and dignity.
The military has received some bad press at times, but from what I experienced, there was zero tolerance from at least my superiors for anything but treating the citizens of other countries, their laws, and their beliefs with the utmost respect and dignity, whether you agreed with them or not. Especially if you are in THEIR country, on their soil!
So basically you think people, no matter their intentions because that is debatable,(and I could care less what or how they worship), have to answer to nobody and can ignore the laws of another nation. And what my military superiors taught me on how to behave in another country was wrong.
I guess we just disagree.
We as the people of the United States of America have a solemn duty to abide by any and all laws of the governments of foreign countries while on their soil. I agree whole heartedly.

What I do not agree with is turning our backs on our fellow countrymen while they are attempting humanitarian aid to such said nations.

These people made some fundamental legal mistakes, yes. Do they deserve to be badmouthed by any or all of the couch potatoes sitting around playing on their computers, passing judgment on someone else that gave a damn enough to get off of their fat lazy asses and do something to try to help some children in need? NO! They do not.

That was my point in a nut-shell. Don't accept it? Don't really care!

Question: Hugh, If I go to China and become a citizen does that make me Chinese?

If not why?

This was your question: Johnny Q American said "If you don't love my country then get out."

This was my response: I didn't know I needed any. LOL

PROOF OF OWNERSHIP THAT IS.

Grandpasmurf, Did you happen to read down a few post after that one?

I told you that I too am Native American. Registered with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Tribes out of Cherokee, N.C.

I live in the Carolinas and my Mother's side of the family are Cherokee an Catawba.

Now, I asked what tribe you are from out of respect and to try an patch up the rift between you and I.

I am partly of Cherokee descent. My aunt did geneological research that indicates that I am also related to a tribe in Canada. I also have Swedish blood on my fathers side. So I guess you could call me a global mongrel.

I still find your suggestion of love it or leave it troublesome and rather flipant.

I don't think that blind patriotism is a good idea.

I value my community and try to be inclusive to all life. I consider myself a citizen of the infinite Cosmos and feel at home wherever I may find myself and would like to see this become a reality for all of us.

I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings especially since we are probably kin.

PEACE :)

I guess my main problem with what you are saying is that you have zero proof than any or all of these people were not deliberately trying to arrange blackmarket adoptions for profit. You've just assumed they being humanitarians, but that's what our legal systems jointly needed to determine. I'm wary of people being so quick to give any criminals (they did knowingly break Haitian law)that much benefit of doubt just because their alibi/cover or religion makes them look like kindhearted folks. That seems overly naive to me, and dangerously close to looking the other way as American exploit children from other countries.
