With the unemployment rate up, economy issues, the government has already gotten us into, the Domestic Violance increasing, the government want to keep a divorce from happening, what until they kill each other, let them divorce, why add more issues to a divorce, the next thing you see is that people will separate and not get a divorce, or even never get married and have more children out of wedlock. What are they thinking. Let them get a divorce.

The idiot who proposed this probably subscribes to the philosophy of "Beatings will continue until morale improves"...

What make the government thank that they need to try and run everything. My question is who will pay for the counseling and therapy sessions if there is a charge, will the government pay for it?

I thank that State Government should deal with other problems in the State of Oklahoma rather than Divorce. We're being compared with other states and did it benefit them or cut down on their Divorce rate? I believe that if your not getting along with someone then you need to separate before someone get hurt or killed. The government need to solve other problems that are more important at this time rather than divorce.

First of all I don't think that making it manditory for couples to seek counseling will have much of an impact on whether a couple stays married or gets a divorce. As a person who has been married for 38 years I can tell you that marriage requires a great deal of effort on both persons involved in the marriage that counseling can't possibly address as the situations of each partnership is different. I would love to expand upon this, but there is not enough space or time here to elaborate. However I do have a question: As brought up by the News on 6 team it was stated that the Oklahoma government is out millions of dollars a year on divorce in Oklahoma each year.(Why is that?) If that is really true, then why is the costs not passed on to the persons seeking a divorce, as they are the one's who want to disolve the marriage.
The main reson is people fileing with pauper's affidavits.(Basically petitioning the court to be divorced for free, or haveing the costs to be payed later)

Of course if they want a divorce and meet the Judge's and State's requirments for a pauper's affidavit we have to give it to them, provoded the Judge calls for it. There isn't much we can do, it's not a clerk's place to say, just the way it is. In no way can we force someone to stay married who dosen't or won't do so.

So you want the Government to stay out of YOUR marriage, and limit the freedom of others to get married? You need to make up your mind, if you are encouraging your lawmakers to continue to speak against same sex marriage, they are eventually going to speak against something that you value to support your original plea. Equal rights under law.

I will be married for 4 years Mar 18. We have been together for 6 years. 1 of those years I was stationed in Alaska. We did have marriage counciling, but it was at the Rev. request. While somethings came to light, it is not going to be the end all be all savior of a marriage. Communication between parties is the key thing... non hostile communication.
