A Sequel With a Twist: Cash for Clunker Appliances

Full story: Oklahoma Impact Team

Instead of trading in your old gas-guzzling car, the government is offering an incentive to get rid of your water guzzling washer, and your power hungry heat pump -- $300 million in stimulus cash for your clunker appliances.

What a joke! The central heat and air units and water heaters costs the most to run
and the rebate is $50 to $100 and most people can't even imagine what ground
source heat pumps costs, no one can afford those and $250.00 rebate wouldn't
even begin to pay the tax on one, what a joke, but you can bet the govt. will dole
out billions for this. Oh by the way seniors your local center may be closed now the
govt. is cutting your funding here!

And....what about clothes dryers? Why aren't those included? The government should also give rebates for purchasing the new HD tv's. Consumers were pretty much forced into buying new tv's this year because of the conversion to HD television or just get a converter box, still not being able to get all of the "original" channels that we received with analog. So why can't we receive stimulus money or rebates for purchasing these items?

Or kitchen stoves? I can't remember when I could afford a new one. Maybe with this incentive I could afford something new instead of something that might blow up in my face.

What a stupid idea. Did the government not learn from its lesson from its first round of Clunker idiocy? What about all the people in Apartments who can't upgrade our appliances? We just lose out? The goverments needs to quit doling out money it doesn't have.

Well here we go again! Another stupid way to spend our tax payer dollars. Cash for clunkers, the River Boat, sending an OSU professor to Alaska to study grandparents & now cash for appliances. How is the government planning on paying for all the stupid ways our tax payer dollars are being spent? But yet benefits for Senior citizens are being cut.

My wife and I purchased four new stainless appliances about three weeks ago. Please tell me that we can get a tax rebate on these.

Theft: n. Taking property from one without their permission. Ca$h for Clunkers[actually they must be good-running cars] or Appliances:taking money borrowed from China AND stolen from MY kids' future paychecks so YOU can buy a brand-new car or shiny red washing machine. Buy your own-especially if you'll save on utilities, the machine will pay for itself! Well, not really if you couldn't afford it already, or if you pay $1500 for a washer instead of keeping your $400 model at home. HELLO? Is anybody paying attention? The gov't is stealing from you to prop up car mfrs and appl mfrs and banks who can't make it on their own! They are telling companies what they can pay, violating employment contracts, selling Chrysler to Fiat [a foreign company that couldn't sell cars here for 30 years because they built junk!]
Obama vowed that his Cap and Trade would cause our utility bills to skyrocket and bankrupt coal companies, so there go your energy savings on that new appliance. Health Care will fine you and your boss if your ins isn't good enough, causing you to lose money and maybe even your job. By the way, this all violates the letter of the Constitution.

Don't you just love how the government keeps encouraging us to keep getting ourselves in more debt?
