Does James Sims II really feel justice is being served by NOT prosecuting a 20 yr old who impregnates a 15 yr old. Are you kidding? So let me get this straight...Although it clearly is a felony punishable by up to life in prison to have intercourse with a 15 yr old,(if the indvidual is a legal adult, and the VICTIM is 5 yrs younger than himself), so long as the guy gets her pregnant and says he wants to continue the relationship there is no crime? WTF? Are you kidding me? How many other criminal sexual conduct cases has Mr. Sims II NOT PROSECUTED or plead down to avoid a trial? I wonder if Mr. Simms opinion on NOT prosecuting these scumbags would be different if it were his minor daughter being victimized and getting pregnant. So much for Mr. Sims protecting this child, or the people of Osceola county. Remember that when you see the recall petition being circulated ladies and gentleman.

I would never vote to recall anyone. That's what the next elections for. Your just waisting Our money.

Its the parents job to protect the 15yr old. Many of these cases the parents allow the girl to date the older guy and then get pissed and file charges when they end up pregnant. I'm thinking that there were charges filed, but maybe it was lessend to a 4th degree or something. Not every person who is found guilty of csc will see jail time, there are alot of cirucumstances that factor in when determining the charge. Also, Coyote is correct, recalls are a waste of money. Don't vote for him in the next election if you don't like him.

The prosecugor will be in office for 3 more years if he isn't recalled. Can Osceola county citizens last that long? Sims doesn't prosecute anything or anyone. He treats victims like they are the criminal. Are the voters in osceola county going to let him continue to pick and choose which laws he wants to enforce? As long as the law says a girl under the age of 16 cannot consent to sex, it is a crime. And isnt that Sims job? It certainly isn't the right message to send that if you get the underage girl pregnant you won't be prosecuted. How about the shooting at the dulcimer, and the FOC employees -- all dismissed. I think the voters need to start looking at what is going on.

Really? Doesn't prosecute anyone? There are some dudes over in the jail and in prison that will have to disagree with you on that one. If you'd like to go back to a prosecutor that handles cases according to a drinking-buddy list, who her friends are, who now owns a house that belonged to a drug defendant and profited personally from it, who took property from the same house after it was seized by police, parties with people that she has charged with selling drugs then pleads them to counseling, drinks at parties with teenagers, and as the PROSECUTOR asks the judge for WORK RELEASE for her friend's kid that she just prosecuted for KILLING somebody, be my guest. I think that you'll find yourself happier with this new guy who obviously does his job based on what the police tell him and not on what he heard while sitting on a bar stool. And its not just sims. No prosecutor would've charged that kid. Not even marvin. |

The "message" wouldn't have been sent at all if this recall guy wasn't crying to the paper because he let his kid date an 18 year old and she got pregnant. What the hell did he think was going to happen? They'd wait till they're married? Not when there are tv shows on that glorify teen pregnancy. So let's spend thousands of dollars we don't have on a recall? So what if he is prosecuted? He goes to jail and gets out and he's still a father but a registered sex offender. That list is for brutal rapists and child molesters, people who are dangerous to everyone, not teenagers who had consensual sex with their girlfriends. Sure its wrong but why ruin the kids life? Vote recall if you want, but not if you had sex when you were a teenager because then you're a hypocrite. Prosecute the guy for sex but then her parents for neglect. And yes, I DO HAVE a teenage daughter and I'm glad I'm not in this position. |

The more people You recall the less qualified people will run. That's what I hate about recalls. You don't know Who that puts in. Maybe Marvin? We elected Him let Him do His job. Next election get somebody better qualified to run. I'm getting sick and tired of every time anybody disagrees with anything an elected official does They file a recall. That's why a lot of good people won't ever run for anything.

Obviously BS in Reed City doesn't know what he/she is talking about. Sounds like he/she is talking about a few of the Sheriff's Dept. deputies when he talks about partying with teenagers and drug dealers. And he/she doesn't know what is going on in the prosecutors office --- nothing.

Has Sims even tried a case yet? His assistant seems to have been promoted to ACTING PA already!

Marvin's judgment may have been way off, but at least she knew HOW to DO the job.

"The more people You recall the less qualified people will run." ????? Couldn't get less qualified if you ask me!

Osceola prosecutor temporarily suspends blight prosecutions
By David Moe Special to the Cadillac News REED CITY - Osceola County Prosecutor Jim Sims II said Monday that for the time being, his office will not be prosecuting violations of the county’s 1977 ordinance prohibiting blight. He said the present ordinance does not contain language sufficient for prosecution. Sims said he had "promised to vigorously prosecute blight violations" throughout his campaign, and he fully intends to keep that promise. The problem, he said, lies in prosecuting a case that will not draw a Constitutional challenge. "I’ll be meeting with the Board of Commissioners to work out new language," Sims said. "The wording needs to be changed to better define blight. What we have now is just not clear. "The problem is," he said, "it’s the old story of one man’s trash being another man’s treasure." In arriving at his decision temporarily to suspend blight prosecutions, Sims cited a decision by 77th District Court Judge Susan Grant. The case, the People vs. Tony Hopkins, originally was brought by the former prosecutor in 2002 and took two years to resolve. Another former prosecutor, James Talaske, defended Hopkins in the action, which involved three junked vehicles and two mobile homes. "In February of 2004, the judge dismissed the case without prejudice," said Sims, "meaning that if the prosecutor had desired to do so, the case could be revisited without violating Hopkins’ rights." The case has not been reopened since Grant’s decision. "Our decision not to prosecute is only a temporary situation until we can button up the loopholes," Sims said. "We just need to clarify the (ordinance’s) language." |

First Sims closes off his office from the public.
Then he wants to further remove his office from the public by moving it into a locked portion of the building (for safety reasons or to hide what he is/isn't doing??). He doesnt prosecute sex offenses (recall), shooting offenses(dulcimer festival), fraud cases (FOC employees) or now blight. He reduces everything he does do with terrible plea bargains. He has tried one case and lost it. Now it seems the assistant is doing everything. Sims was never qualified for the job and has proven he cant do it. Lets hope the recall gets moving. |

1. He said for safety reasons.
2. Sex offenses are prosecuted. Take a look at the docket once in awhile. 3. He DID prosecute the dulcimer shooting. The result was a dismissal with conditions. 4. He DID prosecute the FOC employees. Thats why they dont work there anymore. 5. He doesn't reduce everything with terrible plea bargains. 6. He did try one difficult case and did lose it. 7. His assistant doesnt do "everything." Sims is in court every week. 8. He is qualified and the jail has people in it that aren't allowed to leave, and since none of them volunteered to stay there, he obviously CAN do it. |

How many married couples have a 5-year span between their ages? A LOT. My mom and dad; my grandparents; etc. I applaud Jim Sims for not being politically correct, and for doing the right thing.
HELLO: where were this girls mother/father--if they were SOOOOOOOOO concerned....probably at the bar. Everyone wants to blame their failures upon someone else--usually, in order to file a lawsuit. Stay home and raise your kids instead of hitting the taverns and lodges. |

No, we just expect our prosecutor to do his job -- oh, but that right, he doesn't know how.
|

Waste. |
