This weekend we were down there. Corine said that the causeway is happening this summer. She didn't know how the ferry would be operating during this work.

The causeway is a dead issue right now and whomever is telling you it is coming this summer is not correct...there would be a number of agencies that would need to approve the causeway and they have ALL denied the causeway once already...sure the Bank will try again but it is a LONG process with many public meetings again and there have been ZERO meetings or permits issued.

I believe you because you have been right all along. It is a shame that the condo owners are not being told the truth.

We were down there last weekend and told that they are just waiting for the upcoming election to obtain the permission for the causeway.

Dear Gullible,

You should really go back to the beginning of this thread and even to the one about Atlantis Island to learn more. The people trying to sell those units have been saying they are going to build a bridge since 2006 and they will probably still be telling suckers the same story in 2026.

Well I think Momo is right that the bank will try again and that it will be a long process, and it for sure has been put on hold until after the elecctions. But it looks like the bank has successfully stalled out the Pope lawsuit seeking to establish some claim to the end of the point and so the bank can probably proceed to get organized and begin to push to get approval to be able to start construction for next season. The thing kinda has inevitability goinng for it and eventually opposing forces will wear out or be bought off and one of these days we will venture out on the lake and see lo and behold the new causeway. Thats progress.

The whole place is a shit hole. Why is the bank not reducing the prices? Are people suddenly going to start buying soon? I doubt it.

My friend who owns a condo there attended a meeting recently. The owners were told that a 'certain party' was bought off and the causeway work will begin in a few months.

I feel truly bad for those folks who have been impacted by this venture. So much money lost and so many broken dreams.

I agree with you. After checking out other condos at the lake, I don't think that this one has the potential it was thought to have in the beginning. There needs to be more to do than boating (7 months tops) and swimming (3 months is all)--- well there is always the eating and drinking.

If the causeway had been approved it would have hit the papers/radio/TV by now. Did your friend "offer to give you a good deal" right after he told you work will begin in a few months?

Another viewpoint: Lets look at your posts:
12/6/11 Causeway is going to happen Ameren has given its approval.
1/31/12 Owner was told it is going to happen and start this spring
4/30/12 Owner told you that construction will start this summer.
11/14/12 Construction to begin in a few months
I thing you need someone else to rely on for information.
I hope this guy is not giving you investment advice

I suspect it stands for Community Improvement District although the term in Camden County is NID for Neighborhood Improvement District. Binformed should have pointed out that a petition is a long way from a reality since it has to be voted on by the property owners. The smart money will bet the owners on the non-island side are going to vote against it. Even if the island folk prevail in the vote the Miller County Commissioners would have to approve it since they will eventually be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the causeway and Ameren will have to approve it since they own the lake.

In other words, don't hold your breath waiting for this.

Another viewpoint has to either be an owner looking to unload their unit on some sucker or a real estate agent looking to unload many units on many suckers.

My personal opinion is that even if the causeway existed this complex would still be at the bottom of my list due to the long drive over bad roads to reach it. If I were coming to the lake for the weekend I would want to be able to get in and out quickly and have some shopping/restaurants nearby.
