I wanted to give you a little feedback regarding our trip through Grand Canyon Railway.

1. Our hotel room was quite cold and took hours to heat up and never really did get very warm. The facilities man told us that we were in the oldest building and heat was not very good. I realize we could have been moved; however, we had already unpacked and didn't feel like repacking and unpacking again.

2. The dinner buffet and breakfast buffets were HORRIBLE! I have never seen such poor buffets.
a. It was 39 degrees and very windy on our first day. A bowl of soup would have been wonderful, however, you only offered clam chowder. How many people eat that? An offering of a "normal soup" such as chicken noodle should always occur.
b. In the carvery you served pork roast which was more tough than anything I had ever been served.
c. The desserts were ridiculous and cheap. Whatever happened to cheesecake, chocolate cake, etc?
d. Chicken nuggets? If I wanted those I could have went to a fast food place.
e. There was no one behind the pasta bar the entire time we were there (4:00 - 4:30).
f. Thanks God for the fruit and salad bar!
g. The employees should not hang out in the dining area. It looks as though they do not have enough to do.
h. Pancakes at breakfast were hard.
i. The French toast had an odd flavor like they were grilled with something else.
j. The eggs were runny.
k. The hash browns had parts that were cold and not totally cooked.
l. Thank God for the fruit again!

I can’t believe I paid $20 per person, per meal for this disgusting food. We actually went back to the hotel and placed an order through the restaurant for pizza. How ridiculous! I can’t believe you spend more than $5 per person on this crappy food!

3. The train ride was fine; however, they sell you on the scenery. We didn’t see anything other than the same thing we would have seen if we drove…but, we had never ridden on a train before and did enjoy the ride.

4. The tour bus ride was a joke as well. I was told we would be taken to several sites and would see more than we could see if we walked. We were only taken to two sites that basically had the same scenery as the previous. I think we would have seen different views if we would have walked. I was told by someone on the train ride back that I was lucky we didn’t purchase the buffet food…seems that it was a disgusting as the buffets back at the hotel.

All in all the whole $664 was a joke to charge for this. I could have stayed at the Quality Inn for $100.00, bought dinner on the way for $10 per person, breakfast for $10 per person, driven myself for about $30 and seen more sites because I could have been at the canyon longer by driving and saved myself about $500! When asked about my trip, I have told everyone to “go it alone” unless they have money burning a hole in their pocket. I will continue to provide this feedback to everyone that I know.

We are typically easy people to please but I must say you really didn’t come close to making me feel like my $664 was well worth the money.
