Burn ban challenged in Adirondack uproar
The proposed statewide burn ban got doused with furor here. Outrage came mostly from those who don't equate burning household trash with safely burning forest debris.

Just another example of the state limiting the power of local governments to determine their own course of action. They oughta be ashamed of themselves!

Yes, you hit the nail right on the head. Are our local elected officials not smart enough to obtain conditions from the DEC and then decide whether a burn ban should go into effect. Of course they are!
If they are not, then perhaps we need new local elected officials.

The governor doing this wasn't a bad idea. Local officials would have the same idea. All of this "big government" bullshit is ridiculous. Seriously. Stop.
