Not really. Maybe they need to step up the lay-offs.

Was this placed on the main Web page of mcall.com to bump the story of the MCall layoffs off the front?

Can't think of any other reason to give it such play.

Why don't they just make you pay before you pump like any other gas station? Am I missing something here?

People who want to fill up and don't know how much it will take don't want to always have to go into the store twice - first to pay then to get change.

They had to put something in the paper. Oops -- they forgot the real things going on!

Good idea.... until yours goes "missing" and is used in a drive off....

This also helps to get you into the store to buy other items.

Pay at the pump keeps foot traffic out of a store, where you'll buy a few other items. Same with pre-pay, you pre-pay then leave. This card will help sell more stuff. Which, in the long run can help keep a few cents off the pumps.

If someone steals your card, then uses it and drives off...are you still responsible? I am not seeing any advantage to this card other than the money Sheetz will make from the foot traffic. What is wrong with a debit card? Doesn't everyone on the modern world have one?

These stations pretty much all have video security systems covering the pumps. If they have no video documented that it was you or your car, it should be pretty easy to dispute a drive-off accusation. But in any case it would be wise to report the card missing just like a credit card.

And this is what it comes down to...

And to think that 60 years ago we did not have to lock our doors at night or when we got store credit because times were tight, the manager or owner could trust you to pay later.

Great turn for society...bunch of greedy, irresposible thieves with no values or moral character.

Worse than whippersnappers or hippies.

Oh, good point. I guess I just know how much my car takes so I'm pretty good at guessing and not going over. I used to be able to fill my car for 26.00 and now it takes 40.00 :(

Why not just pay with a credit card at the pump?
