The reason this guy is jail is not because he got caught selling counterfeit T-Shirts in the parking lot of Pocono Raceway... it's becuase this time when he got got caught it was his third offense automatically making this a felony offense.

It's a $5 T-Shirt, not a computer chip!
Tell that to the 25 people that lost their jobs at Mobay Sports in NC. They do most of their business by designing & printing the shirts for these races & because of guys like this, are going out of business. Business, I might add, that helps support the races so people don't have to pay double the ticket price. Same thing with concert merch. If they couldn't make $ off of that, you would have to pay A LOT more to see your favorite bands.

You just don't get it do you?
Nascar has rights, Nascar is a form of business and each of those drivers own their own business that employees people that aren't yet un-employeed.
So if a guy comes along with knock offs as you call them, this is putting nascar rights in the toliet., and jobs will be lost, and unemployment with rise higher and higher.
Many jobs have went into the shitcan cause workers over sea are doing it cheaper. Think about it for a minute. If nascar left anyone to make and sell their logo, then their own business would in trouble.
Nascar has a patent and if you want to sell their shirts or anything else with their logo on it, then get their permission,it's that simple. Anyone can be a vendor for Nascar, but pony up the license and cost to do so. I wouldn't want someone stealing my business from me just to make it cheaper to sell.

Ok, I'm going to go over what has to go into a t-shirt you get from an event like the races.

1. The manufacturer has to purchase the license from the property holder (up to SEVERAL MILLION DOLLARS!)

2. The manufacturer has to pay their art staff to come up with AT LEAST 5 designs per property, taking up to a month in total.(Most designers for places like Mobay are in the $60,000 range per year. So you do the math on that end).

3. The manufacturer has to get approval on the art & make changes accordingly (which can take another week or so).

4. The manufacturer then has to purchase the t-shirts, process the artwork into speps, burn the screens, & print the t-shirts.

5. The manufacturer has to then pay to ship them to the venue & PAY UP TO 40% OF SALES (NOT PROFET) to the VENUE! Not to mention paying someone to sell them!

The end result is that there are SOOO many hands being held out for a cut, that the manufacturer is only making about $5 to $8 off of that shirt. & that's if it EVEN sells.

So you're telling me that you think it's a good thing that a scum bag like this can just steal the design that so many people put work into & paid for is ok? Well, sir, I hope others around you have the same upstanding morals that you suffer from & give you a taste of them. Perhaps you think it's ok for someone to steal your car stereo? I mean, I know that you put a lot of work into earning that stereo, but hey, theft is ok on your planet, right?
