I am interested on feedback regarding Life Care Center of Tullahoma. I will be placing my parent in a nursing home soon. Since this one is closest to our home, I want some advice regarding the care there.
Thank You

Do an internet search.
I just recently did and I can tell you EVERY single nursing home in this area has had citations against them in the past few years.

I've just went through with my grandmother what you are about to. MAKE SURE TO TALK TO ALL YOUR FAMILY ABOUT OTHER OPTIONS.
Only use a nursing home AS A VERY LAST RESORT.
THERE ARE other options available.
Also, If any member of your family has a power of attorney......that's all he state recognizes, meaning whoever has power of attorney will have the final say.

best wishes and praying for you..........

I would not recommend placing a family member at golden living in winchester. you can go on websites and it will list a ton of statistics reported on each home and rating.. always tour the facility after management goes home... after 5pm or early morning when they are getting patients up. Asked to see the dining area and shower rooms..Ask how many RNs and LPNs are staffed and what the patient to care ratio...employee turnover is also critical..If you can hire someone privately to sit feed and give medication, that is what I would do.. Ask your insurance company if that sort of care could be negotiated.. with a little homework and the right contacts, you might be able to work out a deal.. win win for everyone

I absolutely agree!! Do not choose Golding Living. Employees and management are not focused on patient care, only he said she said DRAMA!!! I would recommended Willows of Winchester, it's a small close knit facility. They actually have caring and compassionate employees.

And also Life care does not staff enough for the patients to receive the quality care they deserve, if you do decide to go with them make sure you pop in frequently and UNEXPECTED!!

As I stated I've just been through this with my grandmother.

THERE ARE other options available other than nursing homes. Nursing homes are filled with people that do not care. They most of the time are under staffed and do not have qualified help to provide the care needed. I do HIGHLY recommend that if you do go with a nursing home, that you try your best to be there everyday to make sure your loved one is being taken care of. If you show them that someone will be there everyday, they will take care of them. I went through hell(and still am) to get it but I've been there, done that and got the Tshirt..........

If a family member has power of attorney, that is all the State of TN recognizes. It will be up to that person. But hopefully, unlike what happened with my family, yours will have a family meeting with all family members and decide TOGETHER what route to take.

recently my family chose to let my grandmother stay in nursing home after her time was up in skills. i have ABSOLUTLTY hated them for it!!!! I honestly thought Lynchburg would be the better nursing home in our area(tullahoma never an option bc of such bad rep) however, to my surprise, it is Manchester nursing home over by the new hospital that is 5 star in our area. sooo...if you must make that decision....check it out. NOT TULLAHOMA

I looked it up and ALL nursing homes in the immediate area of Franklin and Coffee County have a bad reputation. That's why I stated THERE ARE OTHER OPTIONS.

I wouldn't wish what I went through with my family on anyone.

If at all possible it is always good if you can keep your parent at home and take care of them.

Nursing homes just do not care for person like a family member would.

its hard and no matter how hard the techs work to take care of our families they just do not staff nursing home like they should the state will give one person 15 or more people to care for and there is no way one person can provide the care they all need, I went through the choices program with my mother and we kept her home she gets awesome care and one on one attention. But I would have to say if I had to put her somewhere it would be Manchester Healthcare and yes you are right pop in at diff times day and night. I wouldnt put my dog in Herizon beside the old hospital,I have spent alot of time in both nursing homes and also have insides news on them I will not mention how on here But keep your family home as long as you can then stay on top of the place you choose to put them. Life care is also a awful place I done some bible studies there many times and also sit with people from church families and it was awful the things I witnessed.

As far as i am concerned, If you have to put a loved one in a nursing home they are on a Death sentence. If it were me going in a nursing home i would hope that i had a family member smother me or help me pull the trigger. lets face it if we can not care for our selves and our loved ones it is time to go.

These days most relatives just do not seem to want to take care of elder relatives. It is unfortunate that many elders will have no choice other than a nursing home.

Have you hugged your senior today?

In the united states of america thousands of bodies go unclaimed for verious reasons each week. The most common reason is there is no insurance and no family members that want to pay the expense of a funeral. just go to any icu in any hpospital and look at how many people are on life support with no one to claim them or have the life support turned off. it is a shame the way we as a people have became. as i stated prior the best thing that can happen to us is to pass prior to the point of the nursing home.

Wow... I don't know why you would ask such an important question on a forum such as this. You have no idea who you receivd advice from nor the credibility that it should be afforded.
I will tell you that my dad is at Life Care in Tullahoma. I would love to be able to take care of him at home but unfortunatly I do not have the training and skill required. Life Care has been wonderful and has treated him with the utmost respect, dignity and quality care. He suffers from alzheimer's disease and as his condition worsens we are unfortunatly going to have to move him to a place with an Alztheimer's unit. Not because they don't properly care for him but because of the required treatment and therapy that is needed. I am actually very apprehensive about moving him. He loves the techs and nurses there.
Go there... check them out. Go unannounced. I checked into Golden Living because they have an Alzheimer's unit... they told me to schedule a visit and I shouldn't come without an appointment.
Ultimately, you have to make the decision that will be in your parent's best interest. I wish you the best of luck and God bless you.

There's a new company in town that can help anyone with these questions. Its GO-TO Homecare, on East Lincoln in Tullahoma. They help people stay at home if they can, and supply all kinds of services. They have over 30 years of geriatric and long-term care experience, so give them a try.

Don't do it there, they are incompetent and your parent will not be taken care of properly.

I had a person in Life Care Center at Tullahoma for 14 months and another for 20 days on two occasions. The care was wonderful and the staff was easy to communicate with and responsive. If I need to go to a nursing home, I want to go here. I do believe in home care to all extent possible but when the situation dictates a nursing home, this is the place to go in my experienced opinion.

Not anymore it isn't. The state auditors just showed up in full force following up on a whole craploadc of complaints. They were digging through everything and talking to everyone they could find. The state said if they don't get adequate staffing up by the time they come back, they are shutting the place down! Even after they left, there were only TWO CNAs covering 100 old people and almost the entire kitchen staff quit. They have one person now who knows how to cook properly for these poor people.
