City joins Anthony casino opposition
Because of the area's reliance on tourists from regions such as the El Paso area, Ruidoso Downs city councilors Monday approved a resolution that opposes a proposed tribal casino in Anthony, New Mexico.

Wow! Of course they would. What I cant beleive is the city is in the pocket of the owner of the privately owned Cosino.
I think the private owner should "pony" up a marketing team and conduct his anti-support through private means. Not local political resoulutions. This is the exercise of free enterprise and competition.

Why would something so blatantly obvious surprise you?It's all about tax money and "fringe benefits"to the politicians and bureaucrats.A little "double dipping" after they retire always seems to work out well,on the taxpayer's doll or for the private companies they helped ,when they were public servants.No problem,as long as they are always the big winners!Let the peasants eat cake!

If we are going to have gambling in N.M. then it should be open gaming and not just on the rez.
Then the only ones that survive are the ones that make a profit and not the ones supported by tax monies.
I am against any gaming but if we are going to have let it be under the free enterprise system.
