I cannot believe that no one in a leadership role from the City of Ruidoso Downs attended the exhibit opening at the Hubbard Museum last week. I guess they are so full of themselves that they see no importance in being present when the Governor of sovereign nation arrives in their community. The City Council and the losers they call administrators left it to two Curators to serve as their ambassador. Between four councilors, a Mayor, and four Department heads - none of them had ten minutes to show up and shake the Governor of the Isleta Pueblo's hand. This is a disgraceful act from a group that has done as little as it can to support a community attraction.

Everyone knows the track will NOT move. The cost to do so would be staggering. Do not drink the fight back kool aid.

The track will either eventually collapse from benign neglect or be raided and closed down permanently by the ATF.

It's not the track that will move. You are correct. Couldn't get the building down US Hwy 70. It is collapsing from benign neglect. Has been for years. When I say, wait until the track moves. Do u really think I am referring to the the track. OMG, I am referring to a piece of paper that goes into an envelope. Similar to a liquor license. You don't move the bar, you take your license with you and build a new one. I think the Hubbard's built the track in HObbs in less than 18 months. They had enough money to do that, then sell it for profit. I think you are drinking Kool Aid.

Like I stated, the cost will be staggering...no one was suggesting that he would physically move this old broken down crap pile of a track to a new location...yes, you are nuts.

Guess the horse owners have not made enough millions, they are openining a slaughter plant in Roswell for Horse slaughter for human consumption! Must really love those horses... stun em and slit 'em open, still alive. Maybe they can sell the horse-burgers at the track soon? bet on em and eat em at the same time. You might get sick from the equine drugs... but you probably feel sick from losing all your money, anyway...

Hey kool aid kid. How many years ago did RD build the track in Hobbs? Do you think that this track might cost the same today? Where would they build the track? How much would the land cost? How much would licensing cost if a legal location for the track could be located? Do you really think that if RD had enough loose pocket change to just build another track somewhere else that he would be bilking us Ruidoso tax payers for 3/4 mil/year? You are not drinking the kool aid, you must be chugging it. The guy is NOT kin to Donald Trump.

Well the track is here for at least one more season. Let me say that I don't think the track makes this area what it is. I've always felt that the scenery, the peaceful solitude, the charm and history of the area were very appealing. However, much has been lost of that due to the destructive fires and the national economic downturn that impacted our economy in a negative way over the last few years . We'd be okay without the track and the crime and low lifes it brings with each spring. Other things, such as the water shortage and the over-abundance of real estate on the market give me great pause. I don't feel we have the leadership in place to combat these major problems and I'd like to see some of the younger, vibrant population get involved in resolving some of these issues with new insight and fresh ideas.

Dollar and Cents this is "Hey Kool Aid Kid. Boreing..
Didn't Hubbard talk about moving the track to outside Las Cruces so he could pick up the passers bye going from Calif. to Florida and visa versa. Google**Warm Springs Apache*** They were given part of their old Native grounds back in 2012. It's right on Interstate 10 west of Las Cruces. Maybe they will put in a Casino and Hubbard would do the Race Track. Makes sense if your informed which obviously you are not. Which doesn't surprise me one bit. Break out of your little world and try to think big. Never mind. You just keep drinking the Ruidoso Kool Aid of "Oh Hubbard would never move this track."

The heavies(and not so heavies) are all vying for the racetrack license floating around from Raton. The last time around Hubbard made big friends in the sandbox with our gov at the time-(and that relationship exists to this day),he and partners developed the Hobbs track and packaged it to one of the largest gaming corporations in the US. It paid off handsomely-they say, to the tune of some 80 million to Hubbard after split with his partners.
Pays to make friends with those governors huh?
The GRT tax incentives Ruidoso Downs Racetrack receives makes it more lucrative to sell, doesn't it?

I was there on Friday afternoon Memorial Weekend. The place was a ghost town. You could get up with out loosing your seat and place a bet with no one standing in front of you at the betting windows. You could go back to your seat and no one had taken them. Very few people their and even fewer betting. Well they are going to have Camel and Osterich races coming up. Nice, that will make Ruidoso proud, I guess that's a precurser for things to come.

There was almost 3000 people there for the trials on Friday. On Saturday and Sunday more than 7000 people showed up. I think lying to support your view of the demise of Ruidoso is typical and shows how inaccurate the views are on this site. The handle was up every day over last year. The town was crowded. A good start for the summer. If we could only get some rain.....
