I have 2 tv's in my house. We have none of the priemium channels like HBO etc,and I pay $127.00 per moth. We will probably swith to Satellite this spring. Its just 2 expensive to have cable. Plus the HD box keeps over heating and breaking. When it does work the fans come on and make a whistleing noise that can clearly be heard. My wife is going nuts over it.

Buy a $25.00 (UHF only) Antenna from Radio Shack, mount it on your house, aim it at the TV antennas on the mountain top, run a 75 ohm coax down to the TV sets, and junk the cable converter. You'll be surprised that you can receive all the networks,PBS,religous and movie channels, all for free. Why pay for 125 channels when normally you only watch a hand full. Great reception from the hilltop. Just remember, they are digital television channels and your set must be digital capable(which all the newer sets are). Approximately 20 channels, both spanish and english interspirshed.

to Direct TV last year, no premium channels but I did pay for the NFL package, we have more channels than we could possibly ever watch, the wife is happy the kids are happy and I am happy with it. The price is much cheaper than what you pay with Baja. I will never go back to Baja. They suck. I recommend you go with Direct you won't regret it..

Direct TV is still expensive --- For two sets you need two Direct converters to watch separate channels. Not cheap -- but if you rather want to pay $50.00 or more a month for 100 plus channels that you don't watch, call them.

The mountaintop tv transmitters are actually repeaters that receive tv stations from Roswell, El Paso, and Albuquerque, then re-transmit those stations into Alamogordo and surrounding area on a different digital channel that can be tuned by a digital capable TV set, IE digital channel 2,channel 4, channel 7, ect. Each channel has sub-channels that can carry 4 or more TV programs,so the programs can add up rapidly.

Dish has better prices and shows for the money but both are a waste of money. They advertise like 150 or 250 channels... mostly sales like QVC channels...

Baja is aweful. So many outages and well over 100 per month with no preium channels. I have internet and subscribed to net flicks for 7.99 per month and my family loves it. We are thinking about just droping tv and going on the internet or net flicks. I have a smart wireless tv so we can just stream to it. Good by Baja and we will just watch tv on our smart phones and windstream.

Since the entire state is oversold on internet service ( since Netflix became popular bandwidth just isn't there to support 200k users), and all the providers are scared crapless that there will be lawsuits regarding this (try downloading a file at 6pm from ANY service in the state and you'll find it crawls) The major players are finally paying to get access to the fiber cable that runs down 25 to ElPaso and to the spaceport.

We may not get 100mb service, but we'll get what were paying for with no excuses that "we are working on it" or "it's a temporary situation"..or my favorite "Please reset your modem and call us later"

Baja is the worst of the bullcrappers around here..yup..you can get 9mb service, but only if you believe their rigged speed test to the switch on date street..it ALWAYS shows 9mb speed even when ANY other test site in the country is showing 100k/sec ( twice as fast as an old dial up modem)

As far as smartphones go..kiss that bandwidth adios on any big weekend when 2000+ more phones show up around here.

Calling and complaining is USELESS..call and demand a DISCOUNT and spank those liars where it really hurts em.

Would you tolerate waiting 60 seconds for a dialtone on a landline phone?...why do you think the phone companies want to get rid of them?

The FCC is the most corrupt thing since the old t or c city council. Can't wait to see what happens with the new players.
