The architects have decided to remove the old building before constructing a new one in its place. Strange, huh.

Gorky, after reading your response i'm assuming that you believe that the Albertsons project will still move forward in a yet to be determined future date?

I've not yet heard of anything to the contrary. Have you?

No news is good news.

Where is our Daily Newspaper investigative reporter? Should they not ask our city commissioners what happened to the ground breaking ceremony for March 2013?

Maybe we need a grocery store that has a fast food restaurant that serves beer and wine in it, after all, we seem to be able to attract food establishments and not a grocery store chain.

Maybe Walmart should open a Hispanic Walmart store at the Old IGA site.

Wal-Mart will open two supermarkets targeting Hispanic consumers in Arizona and Texas, the Financial Times reported.Supermercado de Wal-Mart will open in remodeled retail spaces previously occupied by Wal-Mart's Neighborhood Market stores in Phoenix and Houston.Wal-Mart said the stories will feature a "new layout, signing and product assortment designed to make them even more relevant to local Hispanic customers," according to the Financial Times.

Or what about a '''natural foods''' & vitamin supplement grocery store like they have up in Albuquerque e.g. Whole Foods Grocery or Wild Oats etc. as i miss eating grass fed beef instead of this grain fed crap that we have here.

Check your own ass heisenturd. Look again, dipshitz, I am not the one bitching about not having a whole foods store.
If you want one, move where one is.
It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure that one out and no one will ever accuse you of being one.

We have Nature's Pantry north of town selling organic foods and farmers selling seasonal produce in town as we speak. Tularosa has ranchers and farmers that raise range fed chickens and grass fed cattle. You can order products from Whole Foods. Why do you complain about your own laziness. Go get it!

What are you talking about??????? The city commission approved a parking variance and a GRIP. The city commission has done everything requested..... Where on earth do you get your information and why do you spout off without knowing what you're talking about???? Just because this is TOPIX doesn't mean you shouldn't TRY to be somewhat correct.....

Albertson's would have started doing some kind of construction if they were coming. Read the news, they are in dire straits.

A construction company will be tearing down the the old structure and removing the debris. Then another construction company will begin construction of a new building, built to the requirements of the Albertson's chain. In 15 years, another store will take its place, but maybe somewhere else. That will be the time when a new Alamogordo Library will be built on that lot, that should have been done seven years ago.

ALBERTSONS was never in the picture. A company that builds buildings and then leases the buildings to grocery stores was the company that applied for the parking variance. Albertsons was the 'possible' grocery store chain that would lease the building once completed. Check it out with the city...... I think Westsource might have been a little 'over zealous'. I'd be surprised if anything happens on that lot....we may be looking at the old IGA for a long, long time.......

They drilled for another core sample, this morning on the Northeast corner of the property, where an old Esso gas station stood in the late 50's.
