The Los Angeles City Attorney's Office has filed multiple criminal charges against the owner of a Tujunga gas station after investigators discovered the station was improperly selling customers lower grade gasoline labeled at a higher octane, officials said this morning.
Officials charged Hakop Jack Broutian, the owner of 777 Petro Inc. with four criminal counts of false and misleading representation of the grade of gasoline and four counts of mislabeling gasoline. Each count carries a maximum penalty of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Charges against the company stem from a complaint received by the Los Angeles County Department of Measurement Standards from a bicyclist who had observed an electrical pump transferring gasoline from the 87 octane pump into the 91 octane tank at the gas station located in Tujunga.

Subsequent undercover sampling and testing of the gasoline from the station revealed that 87 octane gas was being sold at the 89 and 91 octane price.

Inspectors instructed the station owner to re-label all pumps to read 87 octane and to sell off the remaining product.

Funny how this gas station also has a pretty little Bentley parked out front with a for sale sign on it..... We never learn, and when we do, the folks have taken so much money, that it's is almost too late.
It is their responsibility to uphold morals and ethics of a business owner; However; when Government and City officials set swaying boundaries, it makes it an open market to rip the system off.
Teaching folks a lesson in this matter, would be make the judge have this person help out in a older persons home... Then they could hear real struggles of lives lived where money has come and gone... No other way, unless a cage underwater with opening for sharks...

Why hasn't there been any follow up on this?
I have been following this thread for a week now and cannot find anything directly from the City Attorneys office. The Petro 777 signs have never been changed and it appears to be "business as usual" with people getting bad gas.
no City Council for us

I know it Doc. Have you seen his Bentley parked out front. How did this person get away with this. And, the folks keep on a pumping gas with no knowledge.
If he truly was fined, perhaps the responsibility is on City officials to place a sign to warn public.
I will go put up sign tonight with my crew.

Hello ya'll, well I did try to talk the the owner one guy named jack and he is a very young guy! he said that nothing of this is true! I did also called the DA office and they are getting all the investagations docs ready for prosecution.
Am also resident from the Tujunga community and boy these people is really getting away with this!
I think that at this point all we can do is to pass on the info to as much people as we can so they can close the business!

Also one trusty source told me that they are dealing with a lot of credit card fraud there!

Be carefull people crooks on the lose!

This is news to me, I just filled up my "premium only" car and now I read this! I have absolutely zero confidence that anything has changed. Plus the station is a magnet for illegals looking for work.

My credit card number was stolen - the only use in the two weeks before 15 fraudulent charges was at the 777 Petro gas station in Tujunga on 1/12/2010.
Makes a person wonder.

4 of my credit cards had fraud on them recently and there was one common link - 777 gas. In addition, all the transactions that were fraud were transactions in the amount of $75 at gas stations in and around north hollywood and L.a. im going to the police on monday.

I used my card at the 777 Gas station in Tujunga about six weeks ago. I specifically remember the guy handing me the box to key in my PIN number. I told him to change it to credit, because I was reluctant to enter my PIN. I then noticed that another gas station employee was standing behind me. The guy behind the counter asked him if he could switch it to credit and he said no. I reluctantly entered my pin, and told them that I was making a note that I had done so, in case my card was duplicated.(I said this because I could just feel a negative vibe off these guys)

Well, six weeks later, and my account has been completely cleaned out. Multiple ATM withdraws over the course of a few days. It looks like there were smaller withdraws made over the 6 week period as well. The most recent ones were made on Devonshire, in Granada Hills.

I have only entered my PIN in two places, other than Bank of America. 777 on the night I mentioned, and the ATM, at the Chevron station at the corner of Foothill, and Haines Canyon. However I've used the ATM at Chevron many times over the past 18 months, and never had an issue until now. But one of these two, most likely 777, duplicated my card. Anyone else had this problem recently in this area?
