Nicaraaguan Patients to be Treated by California Doctors for Free
A group of 100 health professionals affiliated with the International Medical Alliance are traveling from California to spend 10 days treating very low-income patients in Nicaragua.

While I applaude their altruism, I am willing to bet that these Drs. could also find very low income patients to treat right here at home! It seems to me that all too often goods and services are provided to aid people in need living in foreign countries, yet citizens of THIS country are left wanting the same assistance, for the same reasons, without even the slightest hope that a crusading band of Physicians will appear to heal their ails.
I am not suggesting that the International Medical Alliance or similar organisations are wrong to provide the care that is clearly a matter of desperate need in Nicaragua, Equador and many other places the world over. I am however suggesting that perhaps before traveling many thousands of miles to heal those without the means to afford care... more could be done for those that are facing the same situation here in the good ol' US of A.
