I hope he makes the right decisions over the next few years, or he will suffer the consequences. What kind of engineer is your son? I have a special place in my mind for engineers. These are very special people. I think we should have more engineers in public office. Engineers are problem solvers and people who take action (not all of them, but the mind set is there). Hmmm ... A boot regardless of the origin of that boot is none-the-less a boot. The Boot! A very hard part of Parenting is allowing them to "suffer" consequences - not that I mastered that...he's an EE. And, I agree with you fully: these types are no drama, logical problem solvers. Getting them into Public Office & Public Service is really a great idea. Can you guys come up with a new voting system that allows each vote to be legally & honestly counted? This would be a great & needed upgrade to our current voting tally issues.

Just had an idea/suggestion for you - sports. My oldest son's love of sports not only taught him important life lessons, it kept him much to busy to get in any real trouble.

Yeah, been there and done it. He immediately decides that nothing else must be done except the sports.
W/r to a good voting system. Unfortunately, even the best of them can be corrupted.
We need to change them rules.
I was commenting on the Washington Topix about how to address the HCR.
I say we come up with the top 10-20 health care programs. Let the public vote on what they want. Go with the majority and let life go on.
What do you think?

That's how this Country is suppose to run. We have that root issue of corruption however, which prevents this from getting accomplished. Even on local props, the heavy marketing/sales ads distort any clear understanding of the pertinent issue. We've got to find a way to cut through the Master Spins. If we are "clear" on pertinent issues, we're able to vote according to our conscienceness. The first problem is; it's not clear, in fact - often misleading. The second problem is; getting our actual vote casted & tallied properly.

Sounds to me that you could summarize each idea on 1 powerpoint slide. You have 10 slides that people are allowed to read and study carefully. Slides are written in simple language. No Liar talk (Lawyer). No BS. There is no need for 1990 pages of crap.

Great start. Even a small booklet could work specifically without Lawyer Language. "Layman's Terms" for easy understanding by "all". Cast & Count the votes by hand broken down into each area's grade school & tallied by Teachers, Fireman (they tend to be good honest people) & Clergy. Then taken level by level up. It would be a lengthy process but one that would secure each vote that's eligible would get counted correctly. They could be batched with a number then handed up where say the H.S. could then take the batches & divide them. Each holding their count to prevent any tricks. Each H.S. submits their final number to PBS where it's announced - x amount per H.S. tally,# for Candidate A -# for Candidate B -# for Candidate C. Each state would have x number for each Candiate. Add them - and we would have a true Winner by the people. Politicians don't get to play - in other words - strictly not included.

The most important thing to us right now and over the past years has been world dominance. Why, should be the question?

Late Breaking News Flash! The Boot. A Right/Left wing blogger being investigated for his truthfullness on boot preferences. Is he/she a legitimate boot? Is he/she an import? Was he/she made in China? Is he/she real leather? What are this boot's intentions?

They swore these boots were the best "arias" when the brand was researched we could only find a politician in chile and a soccer team with that name? Both foriegn to our country. So SSD launched his own investigation. A far as the pinky and the boot it is freedom lover

Boot wrote: Part 8 Drugs - Either legalize them or make sure that the borders are really being protected using the latest and greatest sensing technology. We may put sensors along the entire border to tell us if anything is trying to cross into the USA. May be something as simple as a fence with electrical power flowing through it (here we go with fences). In reality, sensors to sense drugs and people are not out of this world. Expecting that the American people are just going to stop using drugs is a pipe dream. If you legalize the drugs, it hits a couple of areas. You are allowed to tax the drugs heavily 80% of the cost is tax. You stop the drug violence across the border (no profit). We run a legal operation. The users will continue using them. The people who don't use today, will not use even if they are sold at the corner QuickieMart. There are costs associated either way. Trying to keep them out seems to be more costly. Letting them in will yield a profit. Some people may drug their lives away quickly and will no longer be a problem. W/r to medical costs. If you choose to be a drug user, you automatically pay 25-50% more for insurance. Again, a very long an nasty one. This would be a start on cleaning up the sick addicts. Another major issue to address in this particular area are the legal addicts. This is one of the roots that empower the Pharm. Companies. They pkg. it nice & pretty, tell you it's needed, then the patient often times innocently becomes a bonafide addict - but it's all legal. The Doc get's a cut of the profits, the suppliers make money, the dealers make money...etc. It's the illegal game made legal giving huge profits to Corps. keeping or at times even making the Patient/Consumer very ill.

Boot wrote: Part 3 Education reform - Schools should consider hiring people with real life experience to teach to supplement the teaching of the college educated teachers (bring back wood shop, machining, auto mechanics, sewing, etc.- the trades have a strong place in America). Bring in people like Engineers, Scientists, Doctors, Lawyers to teach for short periods (maybe 1 semester at a time). Make the teaching salaries competitive (you work 10 months, so it would be prorated compared to that which an equivalent job pays for 12 months). Reduce the school week to 4 days a week, 9 hrs per day (save money 1 day per week in all schools + give parents and kids more time to spend together). Restructure the curriculum by semester classes. Year long classes are too long and too boring. Mix it up a little so that the kids don't simply stop listening half way through the year. Compress the teaching materials so that your point gets across and you move on (remember that kids today have very short attention spans - catch it while it's hot and move on). For non-english speaking children, the first 2-3 yrs of school enrollment should be focused on learning english only (reading, writing, speaking - all other things like math, science, etc. can wait). Eliminate the more pay for bilingual teachers (teaching is a job that people want to do to help kids, not to exploit the pay system).- Busing from and to school should be limited to 1 shift of morning and 1 shift of afternoon. Kids who stay late after school should be picked up by the parents (let the schools save some money).-Principles in schools should be reduced to 1 principle for 2-3 schools. This is basically 1 manager for a couple hundred employees (teachers). This person can appoint 2-3 leads. No need to pay 3 PhDs to run 3 schools. Also, you should not need a PhD to run a school. A good manager can run a school much more efficiently than a principle who doesn't know much other than theoretical education.- We may consider privatizing public schools. This doesn't mean we pay someone more money to run private schools. We basically outsource the managing of the schools to contractors the way defense work is outsourced to private companies. Companies are given an annual operating budget. Their profits are based on the success rate of the school and how the budgets were managed as well as other criteria. These companies are held accountable for reporting out 4X per year on the progress that the school is making.- institute a "real life" work program into the schools, where kids actually have a job 1-2 periods per day for a couple of semesters (this shows them job responsibility and shows them what kind of things to expect after finishing school as well as work experience. Not all kids will be college bound - in these classes, they produce products that help the school economy (prisons make license plates, there's bound to be things that school kids can make)- this one is so long that people can add to it for days. This needs to begin now!
