People who are wealthy are practically being punished for being smart with their business.(I say practically bc they aren't literally being punished for those of you who would focus the argument on stuff like that.) Just bc people are making more money, doesn't mean that they should be taxed more for actually trying to be successful and having good work ethic. Welfare is practically socialism. People with poor work ethic should not be rewarded for being like that. It is human nature to be lazy but some people go against the laziness of human nature who become successful and are punished for it.
Stupidity.
You and lighteredknot do realize that the wealthy are being rewarded for...what again? You're American regardless to how "smart" you were with your business. It's not punishment it's what should be done regardless. If I made an exorbitant amount of money I would expect to pay an exorbitant, 27%, amount of federal tax period. See the thing is people blame the "non producers", as you called them, for having an entitlement problem called welfare. Those very critics fail to realize that the "wealthy" have an entitlement problem called "tax loopholes, deductions, capital gains etc...". So both groups of "deadbeats" and "wealth mongers" alike have entitlement issues just on the opposite end of the spectrum. It's not stupid to say "hey the set tax rate is 27% pay your taxes like an American regardless of your income". However it is stupid to say "hey the tax rate is 27% but since you have more money you only have to pay 15%..." WHAT?! Seriously...we have a country to run and if you keep allowing your capital to operate the country, as a whole, walk out the door to cross an ocean or sea and into another country then the country deserves to be in the predicament it is in as we speak. The former is what needs to be done to balance and the latter is asinine.

For all purposes forget everything you know about taxes on goods for this illustration:

Case in point. If you had a business and you were the owner/operator and you had two customers walk in. One with just enough money to pay for what they need and another with enough to live your life and their life at the same daymn time would you, as the owner of your business that is the source of your livelihood, when the illustrated "deadbeat" comes to check out, place a heavier tax on those items. Now, when the "trump" comes to check out would you practically allow him to walk out the store barely paying for his selected items?

Everyone keeps looking at selected groups saying this is right/wrong and fingerprinting. The issue is it's not about YOU per se it's about THE COUNTRY and it's survival. Now if you would let the country, your business in the example, go under and have no more prestige no more buying power no more anything then go ahead, but again it's your livelihood and your everything. That "Buffett" will continue to live his/her life somewhere after they have bankrupted you while you are aassed out and now a "deadbeat"/third world nation.

Good mornning, my fellow patriotic Americans. Oh, and good morning to buckprivatebobbielee, lightredsnot, GropingHand, Obseptictank and their ilk as well.

It appears Obama did not "do down to the jailhouse" and release "illegal criminals", as lightredsnot allegss. Neither the White House nor Homeland Security were advised of the plan to release illegal aliens (or even "illegal criminals").

I am a strong proponent of sharing truthful, accurate information, rather than spreading half-truths, unsubstantiated rumors and/or bald-faced lies to promote any personal agenda...as is the habit of some posters here. We all know who they are.

I don't see how Obama got reelected bc I have not heard anybody say any good reasons why he is apparently such a great president. I think most of America just didn't care about politics and just voted for Obama to not be racist. Only a few people that care about politics and follow politics actually somehow still support him.
How on earth did he get reelected?
Let me "splain" it to you in the simplest of terms, because you appear to be a very simple minded individual.

An election took place.
People went to the polls and voted, or submitted absentee ballots.
The votes were tallied.
Barack Obama amassed more votes than Mitt Romney, both from a raw vote perspective and an electoral college perspective.

THAT is how Barack Obama was reelected!

...got any other idiotic questions you need to have answered?

"For all purposes forget everything you know about taxes on goods for this illustration:"

For all purposes, when discussing income taxes, realize you don't know what you're talking about and are posting a "bad story"...

"However it is stupid to say "hey the tax rate is 27% but since you have more money you only have to pay 15%."

You apparently have no idea how the US tax system works, what the rationale for capital gains tax rates vs. ordinary income rates is and (apparently) don't realize that we all pay the same tax rates. The long term capital gains rate is the same for YOU and Warren Buffer AND Mitt Romney, as well as your next door neighbor, and me (as well as those continuing to read this post).

Oh, you’re upset that some people earn money from different sources, but they should be paying the same rates for all types of income when, for the most part, money used to generate income subject to capital gains tax has ALREADY been taxed…

Your example of “27%” is severely flawed.

Most people are NOT paying a 27% federal income tax rate. For 2011, taxable income (do you know the difference between income and taxable income?) of $251,700 was needed to have an overall ordinary income tax rate of 27%. To have taxable income of $251.7K, total earnings are going to be much higher than that, perhaps (probably) closer to $300K. How many families make enough to have taxable income of $251.7K?

The median family income in the US for 2011 was around $50K. ASSUMING no deductions, no credits, etc.(for example purposes only, it doesn’t work that way in the real world), the income tax rate on a family with taxable income of $50K is 13.3%. Hmmm...

"allow him to walk out the store barely paying for his selected items"

Are you serious? Didn't they (both customers) pay the same price for what they purchased? Oh, you think the Trump person should pay more for the same thing? How logical is that? You're in line at Burger King and someone wants to know what you earn to determine how much you pay for your burger???

It's not 27%, it's 39% just to the fed's for the upper income bracket. If you have enough money to gain sufficient income off of tax free municipal bonds, then you pay far less.

The decision to release these criminals reflects the lack of resource prioritization within the Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement and is indicative of the department's weak stance on national security, and shows the total lack of oversight this administration has over its rsponsibilites.

Bob Woodward said this evening on CNN that a "very senior person" at the White House warned him in an email that he would "regret doing this, regarding his latest comments criticizing President Obama and his statements regarding budget cuts.

It makes me very uncomfortable to have the White House telling reporters,'You're going to regret doing something that you believe in.

Republican leaders’ sequester ‘meeting’ with Obama: Seven minutes.

Never let it be said that President Obama has failed to spend time with Republican leaders in seeking an alternative to automatic budget cuts that are due to hit most federal departments Friday. On Wednesday, for example, the president gave GOP lawmakers as much as seven minutes, a rare face-to-face encounter that the White House described as a “meeting.”

Your idiocy continues to be a neverending source of comedic entertainment.

Uh, the last paragraph from the linked story I provided...

"In addition to counting first-time claims, the Labor Department also tracks people who have filed for their second week or more of benefits. The latest data show 3.1 million people filed continuing claims during the week ended February 16, an 91,000 decrease from a week earlier, and down nearly 10% from those receiving longer-term help a year ago."

When will you learn not to tangle with me, as you always end up getting humiliated and made to look like a fool?

P.S. Have you figured out whether or not John and Theresa Kerry file separate tax returns?

The sequester replacement bill proposed by Senate Democrats, and endorsed by the White House, would add $7.2 billion to the federal deficit over ten years, according to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO).

“CBO estimates that S. 388 would increase direct spending by $62.4 billion and revenues by $55.1 billion over the 2013–2023 period. Thus, the cumulative deficit would increase by $7.2 billion from those changes,” CBO wrote in a report.

They just don't get it.
