Read the minutes of 10-26-09 when these were rezoned with a whole bunch of zoning conditions that will likely be ignored.

That place is a very nice condominium complex if it's the place you are talking about.

I really like the unfinished private road the condo residents were stuck with before the foreclosure.

Of course, GA law forbids the use of public money on this road.

None of this is the fault of the people who bought homes here. This is a subject that deserves very little, if any attention. Especially in light of the scum breeding on Buford Highway and city hall not doing the jobs they are paid to do.

I agree, Mark. This is old news and the people living there have things well in hand. Don't even bother, Jack and Hugh, with trying to stir up needless trouble.

Focus should be on that Buford Highway mess and all of the other issues that are listed on topix ad infinitem.

Let's keep building a fire under council and that lame excuse for a mayor and get Doraville on the right path with a real vision.

The residents demand it!

it is old news but the unfinished lots that have weeds past your knees and the pipes sticking out of the ground makes it look like 'the people living there have things well in hand' indeed. Lets not finish anything that has been started years ago and soon it will look just like the apartments across the creek from the condo's. That will attract a lot of people...
Focus has been on Buford Hwy for years and where has that gotten us??? and 'the residents can demand it' all they want, but the mayor is in office for 3 more years. Get use to it.
Election will be here very soon, be careful what they promise you in return for your vote.

JJoe,
Drove by there today and no weeds to the needs. Also talked with a resident who said the unbuilt lots are due to start constructing soon.

Soooo, as usual, like you and jack and hugh and others of that ilk trying to make something out of nothing, you are just shooting from the hip instead of getting the facts. Gee, that's a surprise....not!

That's why your credibility is zilch.

"They" couldn't possibly break any more promises than the current bunch, with the exception of one council person. Halpern will get their due eventually, it's just a matter of time.

"Miss P", there are no weeds there because its winter and they have all died down. And talking to a resident about what the county is going to allow someone to do is a lot different than actually talking to a higher up in the county who has the authority to oversee what goes on there. I would love to see them either finished or the pipes removed and something else put there or nothing..doesn't matter to me..just clean it up. Me, jack and hugh or anyone else who disagrees with you making something out of nothing is like making something about noise or anything good or bad coming from city hall.

Looks to me like you are really stretching to make your argument.

Why not turn your energy toward more worthy efforts and let Chesnut Place take care of its own issues.

Noise? Anything "good" from city hall? When has that happened? Clean it up? Look around you, there are tons of "cleanliness" violations and most of the time people like you do nothing but complain when we asked for them to be cleaned up. Make up your mind!

we will wait and see...I would think since most of council is controlled by a few residents you would have nothing to complain about, or maybe thats the problem, you have nothing legitimate to complain about. Is the 'one council person' always doing the right thing for everyone or just what you want him/her to do. If Halpern was to move out completely, would you then be satisfied, NO, you would move onto someone else to rip apart

Really?
I'm not about to take on any of your 'worthy efforts'. And of course Chestnut Place can take care of its own issues. They have done a fine job so far. I'm not stretching anything, looks to me like you want to argue !

Chestnut Place cannot proceed to do anything NOR can any building permits be issued as yet. READ THE ZONING CONDITIONS! HOW HARD IS THAT?

It is not about what we feel, it is about what is the law for this particular piece of property. The same law (zoning) passed by the majority of the same folks now still occupying air on the podium.

Out of all the things they have screwed up this is low priority. The Nail Mall and the sideways McDonalds come to mind. Not to mention hiring Joe Cooley at the prompting of Halpern and the other slumlords who run the city.

Halpern, and those who support him, have the biggest targets on their back right now. Yes, I wish they would pull out. Then we could get on with takig our city back.

That would be a good starting point.

you wouldn't think it was a 'low priority' with all the complaining about Buford Hwy. The condo's are right in your back yard. You must either live in one of them or good friends with someone who lives there.
I do not believe Joe Cooley was hired by ANY 'prompting of Halpern'. I think if Halpern had a good notion, he could probably sue the ones who keep calling him a slumlord ! McDonalds is a good thing, and there are others sitting with the side towards a hwy, street etc.
QUIT complaining about everything that is not going the way you want it to. You are beginning to sound like a very sad individual. Its warm outside, get out and move around a little, take your mind off your troubles !

Only if you interpret it that way, Observer. I was just stating a fact. You would know that if you kept up with the local discussions instead of just spewing forth your own opinions.

Cooley is Halpern's bitch...he worked at the law firm that represents Halpern. Hmmmmmmmm

Odd, I took that remark for what it was, a fact. Plus, we are allowed to dream about a better city, not one run by a greedy landlord. They (Halpern) remind me of the people in movies where townspeople are terrified of one big, bad a**hole that finally get's his due at the end of the movie. Only we're not terrified, just informed, and knowledge is power.
