Well, according to the city, we don't have the money...and we don't...so why take on more landscape that contributes nothing but problem to the city (strip club, empty storefronts, housing full of gangs, etc.)

It all points back to the leadership (or lack thereof) in this city.

Okey Dokey that's why I don't understand, why they don't hire more officers? To pick up on the annexation
They haven't hired any more officers yet because of the budget. The really bad part is that they did not even do an imact study before making the decision to annex that area. They have no idea if the additional revenue that we gain will offset the additional costs to the city. Yep, we got a real brain trust at work for us up on the hill. But while we're here out posting about the PD the real problems are growing by the day. Some in this town hate the PD, it's as simple as that. Their reasons? Who knows? But every time I see something like this come up I think about how it takes people's minds off the the recently closed sewage facility, the major gas leak going on right now at the Nail Mall (wholesale building being built on Buford Hwy, Moon Lingerie and other zoning violations. My sources are telling me that the documentation they are waiting on has been held up by a "server problem" with the computer system. I can clearly smell cover up over the stench of the shit factory and the gas leak.

Johnny Z, as an officer myself (not Doraville) we are always hated until needed. The rest is beyond PD control, as far as city issues it's beyond the PD control

Exactly "onegoodguy"! Blaming the PD for the problems is almost as stupid as balming Bush for Katrina! It's thelack of leadership that is the problem. Just so you know, I appreciate our police department and all "first responders".

Ask the Chief?!?! You will never get a straight answer.(You will never get a straight answer from City Hall either.)
Haven't you heard of the Blue Code of Silence???
Up until recently cops could LIE on police reports.(Its now a felony.)
All these reports came from the Dekalb Champion, Dekalb Neighbor, AJC, CBSAtlantaNews, 11AliveNews, and WSBNews.
Now, I think you could probably use a search engine and find these on your own!
Do you live in a cave???

I agree with Doravillian. They will never admit to anything!
Hey OGG. Are you the Gwinnett cop who arrested a lady for disorderly conduct because she couldn't show how her security camera system worked, and she sued for false arrest, and WON $143,000 from the citizens of Gwinnett County.
Our tax dollars at work!

Do you remember about 10 years ago, again in Gwinnett, there was a raid on a home in which the police found nothing (bad information)? Tore up the home though.
Anyway the homeowner sued and won 1 million dollars.
Gwinnett had to jack up the taxes in order to pay off the lawsuit, attorneys fees, etc.
I remember seeing this story on TV.

I don't remember that one. But I'm not surprised. I never met a cop who wasn't a thug.
I think cops really hate anybody they think might be doing better than themselves.
But they won't need to hire more cops to cover the annexation.
That's because all those businesses will MOVE OUT.

I see they swore in new officers to the department at the counsel meeting? According to the agenda on the website.

I heard one lady say at a council meeting that "they wanted to annex these areas so they could close down the strip joints."
Is that agenda politics or what????
From what I know at least two of those clubs (Shooters & Oasis) are aware of this.

If you remember, that's how Doraville started out. A church wanted to close down a bar so they incorporated and closed it down. This was in the 1800s when they had slaves.
I doubt they could do that today. They would go to court and lose and have to pay tremendous attorney's fees.
Dekalb County tried this once in the 90s and found they couldn't afford the litigation either.

I wonder how many of their officers are members of Oathkeepers?

Doraville has way more officers per square mile or per resident than any city except Atl. We have about 4 drug dogs. One for every 2000 residents. That is why we are broke.

Thanks Fapio. No doubt all that dogfood is what's keeping them broke.

The city needs lots of things more that it needs 15 extra cops, drug dawgs, Cop sports cars, SWAT, etc. This is not Iraq
