bigg3469...you are a jackass. The "fool" was an incredibly kind man with wonderfull friends and family. I have seen him use seatbelts on many occaisions but there was a sequence of very bad decisions on his part. It is something that people, sadly are prone to do occaisionally...ALL PEOPLE. But you, a jackass, in another state think your eminence is adequate to judge a man you did not know.

Regardless, in your perfection and ever righteous judgment...you bigg3469 remain...a jackass.

No, not ALL people do it! He made a foolish decision not to wear one, so he's a fool. He may or may not still be alive if he had one on but thats kinda late now.

Yes, you sanctimonious ass...ALL PEOPLE do at times in their lives make bad decisions of some sort or another. A person such as your self whom thinks themselves error free, above all others and qualified to judge others from some self deemed lofty righteousness is typically the worst sort.

And one foolish decision or a dozen such decisions in life does not make one a fool.

I read this story early this morning. The name didn't "ring a bell". Responses to the man's use of a seat belt or not became thoughts during the day. One of the errands on my list was to drop off a package. The Postal Express was closed unexpectedly. On my return home I picked up a paper. The front page put a face to that name. The seat belt or not a seat belt became insignificant. I will miss you Tom. you have added joy to my life, And now you are gone.
May all of us,who have loved you, find peace in your passing.

My first love was in a car with two other teens. He had his seatbelt on and the other two didn't, so they were thrown clear and he died, trapped in the car. I bring it up since your post sounds like someone deserves to die if they don't have a seat belt on and implies that wearing one will prevent death. Seems to me that a jackass would be someone who makes such global statements and assumptions. Life happens. So does death. In every life... seatbelts won't grant eternal life.

Tom had a beautiful smile that conveyed a vibrant life.

And, Tom gave us a wonderful alternative to the downtown post office with Sue, the Sadistic Cowgirl, who believes it's her perrogative to abuse customers.

I have had 2 occasions to visit this now gone person's postal express. In both of my visits to conduct a little bit of shipping, I had never met a business person with the attitude of can do, and willingness to bend over backwards to help a customer as he did.
I would not term this gentleman as a fool by any means. His not wearing a seat belt was a costly mistake, people makes serious mistakes every day of their lives.
More modern vehicles have seat belt indicator devices which alert the operator to buckle up, otherwise the darn car will either not start, or it will keep dinging until the occupant is buckled up. In this person's vehicle, it may have had a device that eventually turns it's self off after awhile.
Another factor which might have contributed to his accident was alcohol, to which I would say, don't drink and drive, for advice.
This is not the last traffic fatality Sierra County might see due to not wearing seat belts and alcohol use. Not too long ago, we lost the owner of Big a Burger, who rolled his jeep and was killed.
My condolences to both of the families.
