Word is 3 policemen and 3 commissioners are going to RUN the CAVE people out of the county !
Names would be fun... my moneys' on Torres,, Renfro, Sanchez (and Montgomery as a write-in for cheerleader, I suspect she's too wiley to actually participate herself)....what do you think ?
The cops probably don't matter, they're just the flunkeys, anyway the new sheriff in town says he won't stand for it in his department and has even banned the use of the words "CAVE PEOPLE"...bravo chief Gallagher !
FBI already involved...again....can you say "Let the Long Hot Summer Begin" ?
Time for a recall petition...I for one, refuse to be represented/ruled by these people.
This is NOT the wild, lawless west. Civilization and the rule of law came in with statehood a century ago.
So....let's hear the smart comments, nasty people...
Ready, set.......GO !

What, not Green? Or is he just part of the bully tactics his business friends use to run other business people out of town?

Sheriff who said what? Are you sure?

According to the Toomey and Audette rules of law, you are absolutely committing libel with such accusations.
#5 Jun 5, 2010
Definition of Libel= Any statement or idea that is not totally agreeable to the cave groups (rejects) way of thinking.

Campbell and Vickers Extremists are sooooo gonna bust you guys. And don't forget KKK Popkins, the star of Malice in TorCLand, he's paid to post hate to honor the Church of Walmarnacle.

Norwich Hospital land-use deal terminated
Residents of Preston, Conn., have overwhelmingly endorsed their selectmen’s move to terminate a $1.6-billion deal with developers of a proposed entertainment complex on the state-owned former Norwich Hospital property. Residents voted 1,103 to 73 Tuesday in a nonbinding referendum in favor of severing the agreement with Utopia Studios and finding a new developer. For nearly three years, Utopia developers have pitched a massive theme park that included movie studios, hotels and an arts school on the vacant 500-acre campus. Developers said the project would lower taxes and create 22,000 jobs. Preston selectmen terminated a development deal in November after they said Utopia failed to meet numerous deadlines, particularly for a payment of more than $56 million. But the developers insisted that townspeople wanted Utopia to develop the property despite being booted by the selectmen.

Narnian you continue to be a quick study ...attack and deflect is like, the prime directive and it's beginning to seem so second nature to you. Is Yikes a personal tutor or just a hero.
Not that it matters (especially considering your disdain for the "Toomey and Audette rules of law") but expressing an opinion about a threat made by or on behalf of public officials being investigated for corruption isn't libel.
Or are you and yours those public officials. If that's true and I were you, I'd be attacking and deflecting like crazy, given the continuing heat on this stove. Come to think of it, that's exactly what you do!
But back to the subject...."Run em out of town"....
Do we have a plan yet, a methodology.
We've heard "bodies in the desert" before (maybe too many for that, mass killings are probably best concealed in war zones), we've had beatings already (kept them out of the papers but there is that troublesome new radio station to consider and more people seem to be listening).
No, what we need here is something we can legal up. Maybe put the city attorney on that. No wait, he was being considered for Scapegoat wasn't he, second thought, we can hold that over him, the Scapegoat thing, I mean, if he were to get any funny ideas.
Task 1... have the Scapegoat find us what methods of nice legal looking Police Oppression might be available.
Task 2... identify a backup contingency, something the commission could do itself and really look legal, like a new ordinance or rule or something we could hammer them with, again the Scapegoat could best advise us with that.......or do we really keep trusting his opinions, you know, given the track record and all. Plus, the Police Power thing sounds more satisfying... but that would be on his advice too.
What to do....what to do.....

Uneducated, are you not allowed to say "CAVE PEOPLE" anymore ?
That makes you appear to be one of our policemen you know.
So what do we have here now, an uneducated policeman ?
Are you one of the "3" ?
What are your "orders" re the "you know who", we're dying to know.
Please control any anger though, you do remember that more than one outside authority is on the alert...

No I would never wish harm on you or Kim or Brad or Bill.
Violence doesn't solve problems and even if it did I certainly would NOT condone it.
You see, that's weak.
It's what cowards do.
At the same time I would like to see a quorum with you all and the Commission. Because I think suing due to the fact that 'I didn't get my way' is weak as well.
Again, that's what cowards do.
#11 Jun 6, 2010
narnian, where've ya been....
All of this has been covered.
Violence- threatened, then given, now more threatened.
Meeting of the minds with commission- been tried ad nauseum,
comm response always the same: CAVE PEOPLE, troublemakers, activists, citizens in general: STFUP... or we'll punish you.
No cowards here, maybe not perfect human beings, but heroes are what I see. People with the courage to stand up…. and remain standing….for what they believe is right in the face of overwhelming opposition and apathy. You should be thankful that they're here and unbelievably are still here doing what no one else in this poor, confused little town seems capable of.
The cowards are on the side of the aisle you're defending, your words-
"Violence doesn't solve problems and even if it did I certainly would NOT condone it. You see, that's weak. It's what cowards do."
Do you get it now.

I'm the one who typed it, of course I get it.
Here's what I see. I'm not attached to either group.
I see 2 sides that are so stubborn they won't give on any issue. Both so convinced they are right (and no one in my experience is ever completely in the right) that compromise is out of the question.
So where does that leave us? All of us.
From where I sit with my limited education it's a stalemate.
It would be a lot cooler if everyone sat down and came up with a solution that (while maybe not everything people want) is acceptable to both sides.
You're wrong if you think I'm all for hushing voices of dissent. I'm not.
I just think some things need to be worth fighting for.

Narnian No, you're not getting it.
This town is owned and run by the famous "good ole boys and gals". If you don't know who they are just re read this forum, they're all there. You've no doubt bumped into some on your daily rounds e.g. when buying a car, placing a newspaper ad, doing some banking, buying a house and on and on. Re read this forum and discover the cozy, privileged, conflict of interest relationships between these people and local government, you know, the entity that sets, collects and spends your taxes and utility payments.
What you're not getting is that these folks routinely enrich themselves at the expense of the rest of us. How do they do that you say ? Same deal, just re read this forum. Bear in mind tho that some damning posts have mysteriously disappeared (altho they were safely preserved by others before their disappearance). There's still plenty here tho, fear not.
Most have been doing this a long time and you'd better believe they have no intention of "sitting down and coming up with any solution acceptable to both sides".
These folks don't play by any rules you or I expect them to, not state law, not federal law, hell not even their own local law. They play by their own rules. They do as they damn well please secure in the knowledge that most people here won't even notice or care or if they do they know their place and are too afraid of retaliation to say anything.
Now…are you starting to get it?
Do you see anything worth fighting for? If you do, know that these people being branded as "troublemakers" are the ones, the only ones so far, doing the fighting and they're doing it not just for themselves but for the rest of us as well.
Maybe we should be grateful….maybe we should be helpful.

ie: listen to gossip on this forum. Some person, for example Deb calling herself new view, started this thread with a bit of gossip and you, Narnian, are supposed to suddenly be informed about corrupt police. Same scenario on many threads. Some person, for example Deb or Kim, tosses out a bit of gossip. Now grab hold of it and nevermind what the courts say. Your role is to do what new view says and "read the forum until you get it cuz it's all been covered here."
new view and brilliant, you two are not impressing anyone with your thread-starting "facts" except yourselves.

from our chapter on the Plague of the Pillagers…
Use of the "Gossip" Label-
listen2bittys' post of the other day serves as a good example of the Second Rule- "Discredit the Troublemaker"….
When the Prime Directive- "Attack & Deflect" won't quite do, you may always counter with "Discredit". Doesn't matter if it's true or not as most people won't question it at all and once applied the damage is done and with any luck irreversible.
One good way to "discredit" someone is with the label "gossip". Notice how easy it is to use and its' all encompassing nature….simply make the accusation of "gossiping" and everything the troublesome person has said is null and void (or better still, maybe assumed to be outright lies…strikes a deeper, darker chord doesn't it). and as they say… Voila !
I often wonder where, at what school, one learns all these dirty tricks. Then it dawned on me..... while remembering some of our local lineages... at bad dads' or mean moms' knee....the T or C version of homeschooling.
In the ongoing effort to rid ourselves of this Plague of the Pillagers we must remain vigilant and careful not to be easily fooled by scurrilous attempts to discredit someone by claiming their statements are just gossip.
Question everything, assume nothing.
Often it's an easy trap to assume our chosen leaders have only our best interests at heart and certainly wouldn't be dishonest or sneaky with us.
It's usually best to listen not to what they say, but rather to watch what they do and to not forget that what they do often involves not theirs' but our money.
For example, they say they are going to finally pave the streets…that sounds GOOD….hooray ! But what they intend to DO is borrow close to $2 million bucks with a payback lasting 20 years in order to "chip seal" some, not all, of the streets and that "chip seal" is said to last only what maybe 5 years? Borrow & pay back with interest for 20 years to get something that might last 5 years….sound like a good deal ?….our money.
There is an alternative, buy hotmix streets, yes you get less streets but they last a whole lot longer. But just try suggesting that to the leaders and while you're at it, ask them which method looks the juiciest to the local contractor who provides the materials…..by the way I hear that one of them might have some "inside" information in that department.
But I digress.
Maybe a good topic for a future Lesson.

Past Lesson: correct usage of lie, lay, laid and lain.
Today's lesson: proper use of the apostrophe. For example, "today's lesson" uses "apostrophe s" to imply the lesson belongs to today.
New View's(old 2me's)incorrect usage of the apostrophe, especially when using a plural personal pronoun (theirs') is atrocious.
Listen2bitty is a "person". The apostrophe is used BEFORE the "s" making it possessive. New View (old 2me) should have written it like this: Listen2bitty's.
Post #15 has no fewer than five incorrectly used words showing possession.
Here's tonight's homework. Write the correct usage showing possession for the following:
Each question is worth 20 points (hint: one answer is given in the narrative description about apostrophe usage). Try it - can't be any poorer than New View's (old 2me's) writing above.

Deb and Kim, you discredited yourselves.
Teacher: Alex's, Mr. Jones', men's, lady's, listen2bitty's
If those are correct, I'll look to the sky for a star.
Looking up is an option once one comes out of the cave.

This thread has a great title but is getting way too pedantic. The Deflect and Discredit tactics have degenerated into Deadly Boredom. How Dastardly of the few who constantly post in order to achieve status as King of the Hill.
#19 Jun 8, 2010
ha ha , too funny ... take your s and place the apostrophe where ?
Now, where were we,
working on the future Lesson.....TBC

listen2bitty has earned a gold star! All answers were correct.
New View, it's back to school for you. Your above post has again showed disdain for the Queen's English. If your "view" is "new" and worth teaching, then it behooves you to write your lesson plan correctly. Otherwise, your credibility suffers (as it already has).
