Legislators: "We hear message"

I offer the following as I received it from the jointogether.org news link. Please return to the following three comments after reading: nothing is actually being smoked, youths may ignore our rules because they think we're crazy, and we lose credibility when we act like reactionaries. Full Story

I don't condone giving meth to school children but meth should be legal. Mexico just legalized possession of small amounts of all drugs. Switzerland just legalized heroin. Portugal decriminalized all drugs in 2001 and their experience has been positive. Now if you are caught with a 10 day supply of your drug or less you face an administrative court, not a criminal court, but in practice they are just not arresting people. A group of 10,000 very serious policemen, prosecutors, attorneys and citizens have formed a group to legalize ALL drugs, Law Enforcement Against Prohibition ( http://leap.cc ) They see what happened when we legalized alcohol in 1932 as a good example of how drug legalization would work. This foolish war on drugs has lasted 37 years and cost us over a TRILLION dollars and we are not an inch closer to stopping drugs. How many millions of Americans are we going to lock up in prison for decades? Mark Montgomery boboberg@nyc.rr.com

I'm going to guess that you just posted this to get a rise......otherwise, I agree with everyone that thinks you are out of your mind! I had an aspiring daughter that destroyed herself, and her relationships with her family when her life bacame focused on nothing more than where to get more meth. The last time I saw her she looked like a cadaver, so you will pardon me if I totally disagree with you!!!!!

meth is a walking dead death sentance. pot is ok if used moderatelly, but meth is a drug that destrys people families homes and children, and that doesn't included all connected to it from the burglary victims, to the car jacked, to the murdered over a gram. meth is nothing but a gangsta's way of saying I don't care about myself or anyone else, unless it gets in my way of getting a hit. how do I know? my sister died from the use of meth so I know first hand how it is a f'd up drug(poision).

Your daughter is a sad case of the addiction of Meth. You are a sad case of a parent that is out of your mind.
