Tribe could have presented problem - Greenwich Time
#1 Sep 6, 2008
Everything in article is about how the residents of this fair state might be inconvenienced if tribe gets ability to build a casino to support their tribe.
Does anyone ever give any consideration to how much the "Indians" were inconvenienced when our forefather came in, stole their land, murdered their people, and usurped everything that was once theirs?
Has anyone been reading the papers about the blatant interference that has been going on in Washington to unjustly deny tribes federal recognition. Just this week Jack Amramhoff was sentenced to prison for such actions and he didn't take the rap alone. A multitude of people will be going to jail because of the blantant injustices prepetuated against this nation's Indian tribes.
Residents of Connecticut are acting no better than our forefathers -- let's make sure the Indians get nothing. Maybe they'll finally disappear and no more attention will be paid to the unthinkable deeds of our forefathers.

All those in oposition have acted in such a bias way
towards the original inhabitants of this land you call connecticut.
The politicians making deals behind the scene with exisiting acknowledged tribes to keep others out so that other out of state gaming entities can emerge on Indian gaming properties.
Building resentment amongst thier constituates against the Indian population as to look as though they are saving the peace of mind for thier people, but in reality only looking to slap themselves on the back to gain a new term in office to keep them and thier families in power and wealth.
It is a real shame what connecticut and other states are doing to rid this country of a great people and heritage.
I went in search of my mothers school recrods and or public health records and the town of New Milford and Kent said after 50 years they get rid of those documents! Strange when residents like Kissinger and M.Stewart live there and being such an important historical area.

I am sorry I forgot to mention that I believe the reason for the supposed missing documents is the fact that my mother was Lenora Coggswell, a member of one of the core families of the Pachgatgoch (Schaghticoke)Band Sub-sachemship.
God forbid if some documentation was handed to those it belonged to, especially if that person was of Indian blood. One could only imagine the devastion that would have on the State of Connecticut.
Geez, you would have better luck having documents turned over concerning UFO's and area 51!!!!!
I believe it's well past due for everyone to admit the truth and give us a fair shake.

McCain was Chairman of Senate Indian Affairs Committee. He didn't go far enough with his investigation into the Abramoff scandal because it leads to the White House and now maybe himself.
Ralph Reed, a former Abramoff business associate, helped to organize a fundraiser held Aug. 18 for McCain's campaign.---How did Ralph Reed escape jail? It sickens me to see this guy as a spokesman for Fox News.
BGR lobbyists-are working with McCain now. BGR lobbied-against STN and worked McCain into having the hearing in 2005 to politically attack the last 2 unrecognized CT tribes. Ask Governor Rell if Barbour, Griffith & Rogers wrote her letter to Senator McCain to set the date and tone for that disgraceful hearing in May of 2005. They did! Governor Rell also said there were no reservations in CT. What a disgusting display of dirty political influence. I would like to ask Steven Griles (in jail) why he was meeting with Margaret Spellings (White House) to discuss federal recognition issues? Calendars are great and yes remember Congresswomen Nancy Johnson well on September 12, 2006 (a date previous thought to be their D-Day) she and BGR had a celebration in DC.
What did they know a month before?
Even Judge Dorsey was a player in the political influence against the tribe. He answered Gov. Rell's letter and pretty much laid out his recent decision against the tribe. Even the city of Danbury wrote the judge I wasn't privy if the judge wrote them too. Not even a mention of Attorney General Blumenthal’s violating any court orders. What a case of miss-justice. I have no faith in the legal system.
This does not surprise me at all!!!!!!!!!!

You are so full of it! You have no idea of what we go through to gain reconition. We should not need to prove anything. You all stole all that was ours and are destroying it. You should go back to where you came and mess that up. your an idiot anyway.

Blumenthal is NOT friend to the American Indian. I have seen him and the First Selectwoman of Litchfield spread paranoia regarding the reservation in Litchfield. That there was the possibility of a nuclear waste facilty to be built there. This talk was in Newtown several years ago. Some simple research shows Blumenthal to have signed many dumping waivers in this state and he has also illegally dismissed several clean-up suits for the illegal dumping Cappoziellos. Those in charge of this state are very greedy and though paid and elected to protect and serve us, do nothing more than lie and rob us. It's like being a cow stuck in a fence and the only help that comes along is the butcher.
