NORWALK, Conn.(AP) Police raided an illegal casino in an office building and arrested six alleged bosses and card dealers, while one gambler was critically injured when he tried to escape by jumping out a third-story window, authorities said.

A SWAT team burst into the third-floor room of the Norwalk office building Wednesday night. Authorities say they found about two dozen gamblers and several people running the operation, which included five tables for Texas Hold 'em poker.

Lt. James Walsh, commander of the Special Services Unit of the Norwalk police, told The Hour of Norwalk that police had been aware of the gambling ring for about three years.

"We were looking at it for a long time," he said. "We were finally able to gather the investigative resources due to the utilization of undercover officers."

Police said a Monroe resident who would not have been charged jumped of a window and was in critical condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital. The person's name wasn't released.

"He ran into the cash room, slammed the door and by the time the officers opened the door, they saw his feet going out the window," Walsh told the newspaper.

Authorities say the operation was called "Casino Royale" and included a fortified door and surveillance cameras in the hallways.

The six people were charged with gambling crimes and held on $5,000 bonds.

This is just plain silly.
