To those who 'sail the seas', navigational charts are now free downloads - most up-to-date and high-resolution. Legal to use for navigation if printed at the proper scale. No more paying exorbitant prices for them.

To those who don't: download one, start looking at it, and maybe you'll become interested in a new hobby to better spend your time (compared to squatting on Topix and throwing your sh!t at each other).

P.S., the direct link to the charts directory: http://www.charts.noaa.gov/PDFs/PDFs.shtml

All Long Island Sound-related charts are numbered 123xx.

The link to the absolutely necessary 'Chart No. 1': http://www.nauticalcharts.noaa.gov/mcd/chart1...
(also see http://www.nauticalcharts.noaa.gov/mcd/chartn... )

Ahoy fellow sailor. I simply stay off of topix while the monkies throw their poop at each other, so it's not all of us! It's sad it has to be that way but I'll just wait it out.

Here is a link to another useful site:

From this page you can get to detailed charts of each harbor in CT, and what I like is that it talks about the legal overnight anchorages, and gives info about headwater navigation and a short history of when each harbor was dredged, etc.

Thanks much for your info- I definitely bookmarked that.
