It begins at the sign"You are now Entering" and ends at the sign "you are now leaving". Take your choice.

Honestly, I'm a white boy so I have no business walking anywhere in BPT (other than Beardsley Park and the North End near Testo's)... And if I do, and something happens, I brought it upon myself for even being there.

I was born, raised and lived a long time right on Noble Ave. so it's not like I'm Anti-Bridgeport. But I've seen how bad it's gotten and Bridgeport doesn't have anymore nice, safe sections...

BPT- You call us fearful, I call us smart for not even putting ourselves in that situation....

i agree with what you are saying. the city has changed in my 54 years here. however in all that time, i have not been a mugging victim because i respect CERTAIN sections of the city at CERTAIN times. so ,in a way, maybe i'm smart also. it just gets frustrating, as a life-long resident, to keep hearing all the disparidgeing remarks about my home constantly. after a while, one grows sick of it.
crime can happen ANYWHERE and does EVERYWHERE. one just needs to be aware of their surroundings at ALL times.
del my friend always good to see you posting. i enjoy reading your remarks because you always have something of interest to add. post ya soon.

I used to live on the corner of Bond Street and Tudor Street, across from the GE parking lot. It was a nice neighbourhood back then, but my da saw the writing on the wall and worked 3 jobs in order to get us outta there. Thank the gods he did.

Thanks BPT, you’re remarks are pretty much on point also, sometimes I just like to argue.
Maybe we’ve just had different experiences living in Bpt. I lived on Noble near Beardsley Park section (which was/is considered one of the better sections), and I’ve been beat up, mugged, countless bikes stolen, house robbed, and even a victim of a home invasion were I was shot at (thank God the punk missed). So not everyone feels the same way about Bpt.
I can understand you getting sick of the Bridgeport remarks but everyone makes remarks about every town. I’m sure people from the Valley are tired of people calling them red necks or hicks just like people from FFLD, Westport and Greenwich are tired of people calling them rich snobs.. We have to accept the stereo types people portray if we want to live in a certain area, no matter how bad or nice.... That’s just the way it is, stereotypes will always be around….
And it’s true, crime CAN happen anywhere and does everywhere but there is so much more in Bpt than almost anywhere else. Let me ask, when was the last time you heard of a (Bridgeport ) type of crime in Seymour, Beacon Falls, Weston or Redding, or in any other city that when you hear the name you say to yourself “where the hell is that”??? You don’t, and if you do they are very far and few between..… Sorry but Bridgeport is bad….

sorry that you have been a victim of crime. thank god you were not hurt personally......property can always be replaced.
we can go back and forth all day on this one......bridgeport being the largest city in population will ALWAYS have more crime. the more people the more issues on all ends of the social scale.
but
it's a fact the smaller towns DO NOT report all the crimes in their towns publicly. it has to do with image and property values. they don't want their tax bases to devalue if residents move because of crime.
like i said we can point/ counter point all day.
hope all is well with you and yours.....best wishes

Hey, I always say, what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger...
You're right, we can go back and forth all day but let me throw this out there, and I don't want to be "That Guy" but maybe it's the population AND demographics of Bridgeport that make it that way. Stamford has a similar sized population but doesn't seem as bad (it may be, but doesn't seem that way)...
I understand what you're saying about small towns not reporting but I'm sure Bridgeport has way more crime than what we read in the paper also...

Like the Zebra Mussels, these animals will eventually creep in and ruin life for everyone. It's inevitable. And the liberals will continue to support their actions, and demand taxpayers fund their livelihood.
