All white people in Connecticut need to go to jail. Only then can they truly call themselves progressive.
Are all white people trying to do that? Not me. If there is some kind of revolution or move for independence, I am ready to join it. Seriously. I know that there is virtually no chance- but if it gets started I would join, probably at huge financial sacrifice.

I am so disgusted with my country. The ideals of self-reliance, small govt, freedom, and equal opportunity are gone, yet there will be a large minority for another 100 years who believe as I do.

You should give Tyrone some credit- directly. He's well spoken, etc. He is open to our ideas. Clearly you are not a racist; but you're sort of too argumentative with him. Look at his response after your post (above).
I'm really disappointed in lifeisshort. I thought better of him till now.
I hold some negative opinions about many ghetto attitudes, but I always try to judge individuals, not by race. Can we all just do that and work on making Tyrone a conservative?
The striking thing about lifeisshort is the arrogance and self-righteousness that comes through in his posts. It's obvious that he thinks that he is superior. Then he posts and proves that he is really just an ignorant narrow-minded racist.

I actually haven't seen him act like this until now.
But anyway, are you becoming a topix addict? There have been times when there was a good group of people on here, and some great conversations.

There is something that keeps you coming back. Wish I'd been here during the times you mention.

Every time I have a hard day, I just have to remind myself that I'm that much closer to achieving my childhood dream of terrorizing kids driving around in vans solving mysteries.

i am not argumentative with him, I have not walked in his shoes, so I am curious what a black man feels watching this mayhem within his race? he's educated and articulate and I respect his opinion. a person can have an worthwhile exchange with him and might be able to learn something from his point of view.
I have had these conversations with some of my neighbors yet they hand me the same old song and dance "brother can't get a break". we make our own "breaks" in life. tyrone has proven that.

Yes, I second that... from time to time good people pop up on here, and in the past they were usually driven off by personal attacks. But actually there hasn't been any ugliness for a long time.

You are so right. All this time I've been telling people I have a Masters in Humanities cause I thought that was just a made-up word. Turns out it's a legit thing, and now I've gotta give a lecture in Chicago.

I respect Citizen's opinion, but I don't feel like you were trying to be argumentative with me. I can't tolerate people who make excuses either, it frustrates me that so many of my people look for hand-outs instead of opportunities to improve themselves.
