The company, The Good Earth Tree Care, takes in wood and processes it, all inside a prepared "cap" area. It was either let this company in or "they", the EPA and CT-DEP combined, were going to truck all the remaining Raybestos waste, being dug up...still,and dump it on the already contaminated Contract Plating property, residents be damned. I ask you, which scenario would you rather have had? The trucks are a pain in the *** BUT better than having a monstrous toxic dump, especially since we just got rid of two, Raybestos and Tilo, by the waste being capped. Call the CT-DEP and EPA Superfund and try to get them to talk about remediating the Contract Plating property, good luck! Been there, done that..."no money" is the answer. And a BIG YES to the speculation about the CP property being highly contaminated, with some of the worst things too, barium, cadmium and lead, plus all the Raybestos stuff from being so close to where hundreds of their barrels were buried. It's a mess that will have to be remediated but only if ENOUGH people make ENOUGH noise, we tried for years with no progress.
