hmm, I am a person of faith and my political views definitely align more with the right than the left. What exactly is it you are waiting to hear from "us"?

This is a terrible story and I offer no excuses or defense for this guy regardless of his former position. It just goes to show that people in leadership roles like this young man was are prone to fall just as much as those who aren't in leadership positions. They are normal people and are just as likely to make dreadful choices and act inappropriately. It is unfortunate but it is true.

My only consolation comes from knowing that my faith and belief in the Lord is not based upon or subject to the performance (good or bad) of another human. I can only hope that this man's admission of guilt is an indication of true repentance on his part but even if it is, he is still subject to the laws of the land and should face the consequences.

This has nothing to do with race, and goes well beyond being "nasty." Connecticut throws nonviolent "offenders" into prison in certain courts for "terrible" offenses like selling marijuana to willing adult customers. We even send them to private prisons hundreds of miles away from their families. And here, a person who might have devastated a young person's life, and is perhaps likely to find more victims, is offered probation. This is sickening and outrageous. Contact Representative Michael Lawlor in West Haven and let him know what you think. Throw people who sell some weed (which could be taxed) to willing adults into prison, or keep sexual predators who are perhaps likely to do it again and again on the streets. What a choice!

Is it that people in the employ of the church are more, or equally, susceptible to temptation? Or, that people who already harbor this kind of deviancy seek out such positions or careers, where they're in a "target-rich environment." As a minister or priest, choirmaster, or for that matter teacher, scount leader, etc., they're in a position of trust and authority, and in proximity to children. Plus, if they're Catholic, they don't have to make up excuses for their noninvolvement with sexually mature women (bonus!). I think it has little to do with the tenets or shortcomings of the institutions, and more with the dark motives of a fraction of the employees who take the job for what they perceive as "perks." (Kind of like how bullies, when they go professional, become cops.)

It's the hypocrisy that I mock. That's why Haggard, Larry Craig...you know, the right wing hypocrites who like to preach how everyone else should live their lives when they are leading double lives. I'm not saying anyone is the
"spawn of satan"....it's just amusing to me to see the hypocrites at work.

ok, cool!.....now, a couple of things.....is it ONLY "conservative" hypocricy that troubles you?....next, i'd love to hear your comments on the rest of my post regarding the portland mayor and the 17-year old.....finally, is it your contention that democratic scum are ok because they DON'T run on values?.......ya know, barney frank and his male escort service outta his washington townhouse back in 1992, or 93?....."iowa" chris dodd taking money from country wide and looking the other way when BAD loans were being made AFTER her took over $100k in campaign contributions?.....are they OK because they never promised us they were, or would be "good" people?..thanks and God bless!
