Mayor Bill Finch, in his annual State of the City address to the Bridgeport Regional Business Council today said that despite some of the most difficult economic, educational, and environmental challenges Connecticut has ever faced, Bridgeport is getting stronger by the day.

“I am the father of four public school students,” Finch said.“My youngest son will graduate high school in the year 2024. And I hope to ensure that Bridgeport is a place where, like his father, he wants to raise a family and make a life for himself.”

During his speech, Mayor Finch pointed to tangible examples of progress being made on developing the city’s economy, creating green jobs, lowering emissions, and creating new high-quality public schools.

The mayor highlighted the following areas:

Developing Bridgeport’s economy:“The historic Mechanics & Farmers building is getting ready to re-open its doors and will be serving as the home of Fletcher-Thompson. This is an architecture and engineering firm that is moving back to Bridgeport because they believe in the progress we’re making downtown and across the city. In coming back to the Park City, the company is bringing with it 135 jobs, and Mechanics & Farmers will also house 30 residential apartments.”

Creating green jobs:“A shining example of this is EnviroExpress, located in the Eco-Technology Park. EnviroExpress employs over 100 people and fuels its fleet, as well as others, with Liquefied Natural Gas and Compressed Natural Gas at its filling station. These fuels produce 30 percent less greenhouse gas emissions, and between 60 and 90 percent less smog-producing pollutants, than traditional petroleum based fuels.”

Creating new high-quality schools:“The new [Fairchild Wheeler] campus houses three STEM academies – science and technology, engineering, and math. In addition, we opened the Bridgeport Military Academy in the fall of 2013. This school helps students focus on first responder jobs and military vocations.”

The man is obviously delusional.
I have a challenge for him. Ask him to walk the city streets at night, alone, and we get to pick the streets.

I won't let Sam out at night in fear something might happen to him. Sam, stop licking yourself and go lay down.

Now, now. Don't pick on Sam (the REAL Sam). Both Sam and I know what Bridgeport was like many years ago and it has deteriorated over the years to the point where we gave up on it and just left the city.
So there is really nothing good to say about the city anymore, other than the fact that you haven't been murdered yet, robbed, shot or raped. I won't get into the racial thing but I'm sure you get where I'm going.
I'm sure Finch has his bodyguards and doesn't go out at night so he is absolutely clueless when it comes to this "strong and getting stronger" comment. It's all a political ploy to get re-elected. Look around you. Are people still unemployed? Nothing to do? Did taxes go down? Drugs still rampant? Did crime go away? Did it diminish? So what's "getting stronger"?

seems to be the mantra of the democrats lately. If you tell a lie over and over people will believe it eventually. finch and the rest of the dems have been telling some whoppers lately.

life is not better here in Bridgeport, look at the great job finch has been doing with downtown., he looks out his window at work and sees that??!!

and yet says this. of course what is he supposed to say, I'm incompetent.
