Much more needs to be done to preserve the nation's historical heritage. Every day an old house is demolished taking away a piece of history that can never be replaced. Blacks do this sort of non-sense more than anybody. Fortunately, I live in a mixed area where the whites have insisted that the old buildings remain. That has added a lot of value to our house. I thank the white neighbor for this. And my white neighbors are nothing like this scum we see in Topix

take a look at the pics in the article - eother place is hardly a BUILDING anymore. And THOSE pics were taken almost FOUR years ago.

it's really according to 'local legend' that the houses are/were the oldest in CT built by A-A's - property records show OWNERS, not CONSTRUCTORS - and anyways, labor back then was BOUND to have blacks as well as whites doing construction.

this bunch is hanging onto a legend, and they'll be damed if they'll let it go (and, therefore, NOT getting grant $$$ and tax abatements anymore).

I could level a lot of criticism on blacks, as you do,(and you have a valid point) but what if a people want some kind of history, some kind of roots, something to point to as heritage. There were probably a lot of black dockworkers and stevedores back in the day. OK, these houses are near that. But if they fix up the houses, what practical use will they be put to? That neighborhood is in the middle of nowhere, given that they are cut off by the stadium and the arena.
Maybe they could become the headquarters for the angry black progressive lesbian coalition, or something like that.
maybe the new black panthers headquarters.

angela davis could come in and do an autograph signing..........

Historic??!! The Pleasure Beach bridge and it's beach are historic and nobody wanted to rebuild it and this woman gets a 20,000 dollar check to rebuild a useless fire trap of a building because she believes that some ol' slave drove some nails in it? Ridiculous. I'm sure there were plenty of white folk who put their sweat and nails into it also.
Nice scam, Maisa, but it's time to take down that useless rat-trap you call a house and put the money (not yours remember) into building some useful housing for the needy. Our Country has too many homeless people and needy veterans who would like a place to lay their head. They wouldn't care WHO drove the nails into it, black, white, yellow or purple.
You are some selfish piece of work, Maisa. Shame on you and your 'cause'.

Dude people restore old homes of one kind or another all the time, all the while other people are homeless. Nothing new here, and people are out dancing and celebrating while other people are homeless. We don't stop every activity because of it.

I completely agree with that. I have to go thru life laughing or its not worth it.
I want a significant other who will laugh with me, instead of bitching at me.

My neighbor bought his house from a Polish guy who's parents originally owned it. They were immigrants from Poland back in 1903. Do you think he could get a check and claim that the house is an original historic Polish dwelling? Probably not. Wrong color.

It's way better for him to have been on the roof instead of inside the house. That way, he couldn't steal much except for some tar paper and maybe a few nails.

ouch. THAT was a little too much.

BUT, if they play their cards right, they could throw in a slide and a couple of swings, maybe spread some (more) sand on the first floor, and qualify as an 'angel playground'(or whatever they're calling the newtown kid memorials).

Oh lord CTM, you've done it again. So it was 'Newtown' that shot a bunch of school kids to get
$ 50 million? You should give up thinking. It's just not your thing.
