If he was a black man he would still be in prison. So I am sure there was a pay off somewhere.

Alex Kelly has serious mental problems.
He was a good looking young man with money, but, he hadd a need to rape girls. I agree that if he was black, he be dead of in jail for life.

Not only did he rape, he also killed. Like Ted Kennedy, they both should be in jail for a LONG time.

If he were black he probably would still be in jail. How much did his parent's have to pay for him to only have to complete 10 years? He's probably just as arrogant as he was the day he went in jail. I don't know if he is necessarily a changed man and been rehabilitated by the system but I am leary about him being released from jail. Who knows what inner rage he has & what he would do if given the chance to commit a similar crime?

The boy made a few bad choices over twenty years ago. He turned himself in and paid with serving almost a decade of prison, and it shows much growth and integrity that he tries to pay the fine himself. If he can't find a job to pay his fine, it wouldn't be his fault. The designers of the sex registry should have though of this.
This poor guy hasn't repeated any similar crime since his original arrest over twenty years ago... he's proven he's not a threat to society or anyone. He just wants to move on with his life, which he should. Feminists and the judicial system has already raked him over the coals and demonized him in Lifetime B movies and in overly melodramatic news article written.
Everyone who wishes anyone to be raped should rethink their self-righteousness, and that "OH! HIDE YOUR DAUGHTERS, MOTHERS, AND GRANDMA..." is sooooo old.

"The boy made a few bad choices?" He rapes 2 girls, gets convicted and flees to Europe? Are you kidding me....a few bad choices? This jackass needs to be locked up for more than 10 yrs. If it was my daughter he raped, I'd give him a reason to look over his shoulder everytime he made a move. I don't care if he's white, black, purple or green. He belongs behind bars.

Reading some of these comments, I'm reminded of the ones that came out when that white drunk driver from Monroe killed that little black girl in an auto accident.

"If he was black, he'd be in jail by now!!"

and

"He's a murderer and should get the death penalty!"

This is why I'm glad I live in a country that runs by the rule of law, and not mob rule.

Punishment is meted out in finite quantities, and that's the way it should be. The penalty for rape or manslaughter is less severe than that for murder -- and neither person murdered anyone (where did you get THAT, pwilson??). For lesser crimes the punishment has a beginning, and an end: white or black, rich or poor. You don't lock a guy up for life or execute him for anything less than first-degree murder. And that's as it should be.

Kelly did the time for his crime, and his daddy's money did not spare him that. He's "paid his debt to society" as the cliche' goes. Let it be.

BAD CHOICES? RAPE? MURDER? YOU SAY BAD CHOICES? Are you are drugs? He should be behind bars for at least 25 years. Same with Ted K. But the liberal system of justice prevails again.

He didn't murder anyone; he was convicted of raping two high school girls when he was in high school. The state was going to prosecute him for the two rapes in one trial which his lawyers who couldn't get separate trials thought his case would be highly prejudicial and so he ran. The laws changed and by the time he turned himself in and he got his two trails but he was no longer a HS student but a 27 yr old man who fled prosecution. He was convicted in both cases.
