Ramadan is a difficult sacrifice. no food or drink from sunrise to sunset.(days are long in the summer). the purpose is to have one be grateful for what they have and to experience what the poor go through daily.
don't know if we Christians can do it. most of us have trouble not eating meat on Friday during lent.
