A little harsh there JOE!!!!!!

Actually many of these guys have four year degrees now. Do they really need one? I think not but they do. It is embarrassing to see cops sitting in their vehicles working overtime on their side jobs watching DVDs or movies on their phones!!!

Whatever happened to he days when police officers were out of their police vehicles actually watching traffic patterns. And not sleeping or doing the above........

<quoted text>.$3000 is a lot but it's nothing compared to the paid sick time abuse in all departments in town. In the police dept that have a veteran officer who averages 60 sick days a year , every year in his 25+ years on the PD. last year he called out over 80 days sick at $250 a day the town paid him $20,000 to sit home or do his radio show. The kicker is you have to pay another guy time and 1/2 to cover the shift so that is $375 a day Xs 80 that's another $30,000. So one person alone cost the town $50,000 for not showing up to work. Why does he still have a job? I hear this year he already has 40 days out sick but he never misses his side job ( I guess he doesn't get paid if he calls in sick for that )
DaPondi can stop this!!

It happened today, I can't believe this but I actually witnessed his today, 07/17/2013. An officer was sitting in his patrol squad car and was sleeping, sound asleep. He was a white dude , faced looked chubby and it was over by Home Depot on the road coming from milford going towards the movie theatres.

I read these blogs every once in awhil but have never responded but when I saw his dude sleeping I had to laugh!

Hey mayor, maybe someone nes to check up on these guys!

What should happen is that people seeing cops sleeping should don one of two things. Either call the mayors office right away and report the car number and take a picture and send it to the ct post. officers are NOT paid o sleep in cars while they are being paid to be watchful of traffic. I am trying to find out who this officer today was that was assigned to that area.

The scam is you work nights and suck up all the ot while sleeping during the day in a car provided by the town. The other guys just sleep in their bunks.

Harkins has just got to go. No vision, no accessability. Refuses to engage anything. Classic political waffler who speaks out of both sides of his mouth. 18 years of service and a lot of talk about helping us commuters out and still no end in sight for the abysmal parking situation at the train station. He didn't facilitate the airport deal, the feds just told him where to sign. Army engine plant? He can't take credit for anything there....Stratford has no skin in that game. The Feds gave Harkins and gang 2 shots at that and they dropped the ball both times.
Everytime he opens his mouth about Shakespeare he just shows his ignorance on the topic.
Raymark waste? Ha! Nothing except trying to cap it all right here instead of looking for real solutions.
The EMS debacle is just costing taxpayers money and the attorneys get rich suing the unions and losing because evidently no one in his admin can read a contract.
He just doesn't know how to lead. And he's vindictive as hell. He ran a campaign on "restoring pride and bringing people together" I've seen no evidence of either

Hard to argue .........I have supported harking as I think he is a good guy but sometimes that is just not good enough as a leader. He promised that the town attorney system would change and it hasn't.

Why doesn't the Chief have his patrol supervisors checking on these clowns? They're getting big bucks to work these jobs.

Tippy and I live in Stratford. Harkins is bad for Stratford. The Jerk wants to sell our sewages plant to New Haven, and our employees will be fire and New Haven can charge us a much as they want for service and we cannot complain or do anything about it. Next election will be this November. Vote the Jerk out of office.
