Handyman is right without the warranty it is 140.00 to have your xbox fixed thru microsoft. i know because i called customer support and that is the price they gave me. Handyman fixed my xbox and also one for my brother n law and it has worked perfect for about six months or so. Im just saying this is a pretty good deal..70.00 is less than 140.00

Easily. Find the game you want online and download it(get familiar with .torrent files through Google and check out btjunkie.org ). Then use a program like Xbox Backup Creator to burn the game onto a dual-layer DVD+R. Flashing your Xbox's DVD Drive to read the games is the tricky part. There are many good, thorough tutorials on the internet for it.

yes you can burn games for the xbox 360, but modifing you xbox 360 is illegal and if you are an xbox live subscriber you will be banned from xbox live. microsoft sends out a random security systems check on xbox live and if your console is detected with illegal firmware your console will be banned from xbox live indefinatly. Jason Waters needs to be a lil more descret...its not worth the trouble.

Yes that is true microsoft will fix or replace you xbox if it is still under warranty, but if out of warranty no matter what the problem with the xbox, microsoft will charge you atleast 100.00 to 140.00 to fix it. So give them a call first and see what your options are.
Not true, my buddy's xbox WAS out of warranty by about three months....it was a recall due to a defect in the product so they fixed it 100% for free....no money on his part.

He was afraid that he was going to pay out of his pockets until he called them and told them the what was happening. It was an error code but I don't remember what.

This is true at one time they did fix the recalls , they are not longer doing it for free. But being out of warranty and a recall are two different things...the thing is if you need it fixed just let me know not trying to stirr up trouble. Always call microsoft first to check your options, if they cant get what you need done let me know..........

This comment doesn't make sense, he just got his Xbox back last week through a recall repair from microsoft, even though it was out of warranty.
He sent it off to be fixed about two weeks ago, didn't cost him a dime.

Handyman, got a question for ya. I recently bought a cheap, broken Xbox from eBay. XClamp fix applied, new thermal compound on CPU and GPU, eraser fix for RAM chips. Thing still freezes after a few minutes of GPU usage. Dashboard does fine, until a game is played. Never lasts longer than 2-4 minutes. Any suggestions other than reseating the chips with heat?

I have a problem with my Xbox saying open tray/close tray. Some days it doesnt happen some it does, sometimes I only have to open it once and then it works other times I have to sit with it for like 30 mins. I have called the xbox people and they just sit on the phone with me telling me "try another game." I think its just troubleshooting error's, I still have my avatr and it still moves and my games are still in tact, no scratchs on any of them and it doesnt really matter what game your trying to play, it just does it randomly.

Laser is probably on it's way out. You could adjust the laser's pot, but it would require taking the 360 and DVD drive apart. If you taken apart you 360, you could have loosened the cable to the mainboard, but that usually shows up as a rapidly flashing center light, like when you hit Eject, but won't stop or open the tray. I have a spare BenQ drive if you need it. $30 bucks.

Jason, i am working on one right now with the same issue. i will let you know the outcome as soon as im finished. More than likely it is an improper Xclamp fix...

Disassemble the the DVD drive and try GENTLEY cleaning the lasar lense with a q-tip dampened with alcohol.Agin be very careful when doing this, and if that does not fix it then Jason Waters is right your lasar lense is on the way out of commision. it may be the lasar lens assembly is sticking on the glide rails, would be a good idea to relubricate the glide rails with sylicone grease i have encountered a problem with a drive with the same problems and have done these steps and it works great now.
