Are you stupid? If you want to talk about this piece of shit, go ahead, but don't ask that the victim's name be plastered all over this site! This is a kid that is going to have to live with this the rest of their life. Show a little compassion.

If my kid was 17 um yes I would and I would punish her. She should have enough common sense to not mess with a teacher
A young person is impressionable, especially by an authority figure. The adult (offender) can manipulate even the most responsible of kids by pressuring them or persuading them. The sheer fact that you would say any of this is the child's fault just shows how ignorant you really are. IT'S A 39 YEAR OLD TEACHER AND A CHILD,,,,,,,,WHO SHOULD BE THE RESPONSIBLE ONE OF THE TWO, YOU IDIOT?

Both should be. Just so you know I'm not a idiot. I'm not using all caps. And she's 17! She wasn't a stupid kid! A kid is younger then 17 she knows right from wrong.
Ok genius, let me slow it down for you. The capitalization of an entire sentence in my previous post is to imply emotion and intolerance for your ignorance. A simple minded person with a futile argument,(that would be you Einstein) is quick to take the attention off of one's own short comings, weaknesses, or inefficiencies by projecting said attention to their foe's grammar. So yeah..you got me, you really burned me on that one!
So, lets just say all of the rest of us are as ignorant as you and we believe that the girl is to blame too. Brace yourself I'm going to capitalize my words again.......THE CHILD IS NOT BREAKING THE LAW BY HAVING SEX WITH AN ADULT...... THE ADULT IS!
In all seriousness every teenager has different mental and emotional strengths and weaknesses. I dont presume that most people who prey on underage youths for sex tend to pick the strongest minded victims.

Whatever you say. I still believe the girl is in the wrong as much as the teacher. At the age she is and not having mental problems she should and did know better. It takes two to tango not one. And it wasn't rape.

Ok, you and I can agree to disagree and everyone else and I will agree that you're ignorant, fair enough? There is a reason why age limits are applied to tobacco, alcohol, employment, education, driving license, military service, credit, firearm possession, presidential candidacy, and even sex. It's to ensure that the participant is aware of the dangers, consequences, responsibilities, obligations, etc. You're right it wasn't rape and that's why he wasn't charged with rape. It was however, Sexual Assault, because the victim was less than 18 years of age and the defendant was a teacher (person of authority).

Good thing the state of Arkansas feels differently about it. The teacher should have known better.

So should the girl.
The girl is a minor. Akers is not. Akers was a teacher, in a position of authority, entrusted with the care of our children. What he did is vile and disgusting. He should have politely declined and referred her to the counselor and reported it to the principal.
He is the one criminally liable here, not her.
