Bob McGovern, owner of McGovern homes claims he builds a quality home. I suppose he might believe that since he doesn't do any warranty work on the homes he sells. Unfortunately, that's not because there aren't a LOT of people turning in warranty claims, it's that he just refuses to do the work.

Don't buy a home from this company and tell your friends.

I agree totally. I had a terrible time with the McGoverns. When we moved into our home it was infested with rats and they had the nerve to tell me that I brought them with me. We still have problems with water all over our back lawn and other problems and after spending $300,000 on a home they have thanked me by being rude and not doing any of the warranty work they claimed they would.

I love my McGovern Home. They have gone above and beyond to insure that all my warranty work was completed in a timely fashion. I don't know the people above, but my experience has been completely different. If my family ever chooses to move, we'll go to McGovern Homes first!

I recommend McGovern to all my friends and family. They deffinately ARE a quality builder.

I walked into my first McGovern Home during a parade of homes years ago, and I instantly noticed that McGovern Homes are some of the premiere and best built homes in Kansas City. I am currently living in my second McGovern Home, and if I ever want to move again, Bob McGovern is the person I want to build my next home. I have been so pleased with the quality of work and service I have received through my interactions with this company over the years. Their staff is customer service oriented, and I have always received prompt follow up. My family has enjoyed both the houses we have lived in, and we were taken care of throughout the entire home buying process. Our homes were finished on schedule and we closed on time, just like we were promised. In the past, I have had some unpleasant experiences with other builders while trying to buy a home, but when I bought my McGovern homes, everything was organized so well that all phases were completed on time and done right the first time. My wife and I enjoyed the flexibility we had to choose our selections, and we love our McGovern home. This company has been building for over 20 years, and I can only say good things about them.

Well, it is good to know that even after the McGovern's posted a couple of reviews of their own products, that they have gone out of business and are no longer building homes. The furniture store they started up has also gone out of business. When you treat your customers like they are the enemy it's got to be hard to succeed.

I, too, own a McGovern home. It is a piece of crap. The homes in my neighborhood are less than 10 years old and the front porch railings have had to be replaced on every home that McGovern built. The outside trim is all decayed. The windows leak and cause rotting of the inside sills, the electric work was not done well. I had to rip out my wood floors because they looked so bad. The railing upstairs that overlooks the stairs is very loose. This is just not in my house, but in every house in the subdivision. They are crooked and nasty to work with.

Does anyone know what kind of windows McGovern used? We just bought a house built by McGovern but I guess they are out of business. Half of our windows seals are bad and need replacing (house is only 13 years old!!) so I am trying to find out the manufacturer for warranty info. They are all wood if anyone can help me out! Thanks!!!
