Very sad story but very suspicious.........I would have to say. Hope the investigation determines what really happened. A life has been taken.

Okay People I do not think the gun just happened to go off. I think there is more to this story and it will come out eventually. Someone took this mans life and they will be caught. I mean I guess it could happen, but it is suspect!!!
My prayers go out to his family.

God Sees all things-----get a life...you do not know the story...think about families of both people involved in this...it was a complete accident...it is not suspicious...you weren't there so unless you know the whole story, you shouldn't even comment on it.

It sounds like without knowing a thing about the situation, you are willing to attempt to arouse suspicion about what is a very sad incident. Please everyone, a man is dead. Don't by your comments, cast veiled allegations at someone that will follow him/her all his/her life. Let the authorities do their job and make the final determination before saying this death was suspicious. Blessings to the family of Mr. Giebel, and also to the family of the other individual on the ATV. Mr. Giebell's family has to be devastated and the other family is suffering also I am sure.
God Bless

Okay.......maybe this was an accident even though it sounds very suspicious to me. What I find that makes it even more suspicious is that Fluvanna County Sheriffs Office is not releasing the name of the passenger. I wonder how come?
Just maybe there is something that they are trying to cover up.
It is only fair that if they are releasing the name of the victim that the passenger's name should also be released. Maybe he has some kind of pull with the police or something to hide! My prayers go out to the victims family.

Fred---of course..but ACCIDENTS HAPPEN every single day... no one is to blame in this, and those of you making assumptions and putting blame to someone in this...just keep it to yourself..there are members of each family reading this... and to you LET US KNOW----there isnt anything being covered up...you also apparently don't know the story, so might want to keep it to yourself to protect the feelings of each family involved. How dare you put blame on someone for having something going on with the police when someone has died. GET A LIFE.

Yes, it seems this was something these men did several times a week, this is just a freak accident. Saddened for both families involved. People, learn to pray instead of judging. God judges, not us.

i agree with everything that get real says in these posts..most of you posting here do not know the families involved in this tragic event and for and for "let us know" why should fluvanna release the other guys name in the news?..so ppl like you can call and harrass him?..i think the man has already been thru enough torment and no there is no cover up on fluvanna's part..enough said..just know that if anyone here was in this situation they would reserve the same respect and privacy as the giebels and other family involved. May the angels above be watching over you joe and alma i love you.

Joe's family deserves to know the truth. Joe cannot be replaced however his family deserves to know what really happened. How do you know for sure Fluvanna isn't covering up something. I have heard that there was a connection between the passenger and the fluvanna sheriff's office.
Maybe there is more to this than we all know......

There was the wreckless discharge of a firearm, if there was no problem with the safety on the rifle. Safety features fail, but muzzle control would still have kept his buddy from being shot and killed. They make a device to hold the weapon in an upright position, I suggest anyone who uses a gator, or any other UTV to transport firearms to invest in one, it could save a life.
My prayers are for all who are affected by this tragic loss of life.

This was not just an "accident", a man was shot to death. It is also very suspicious that the name of the person who fired the shot has not been made public, maybe there is a connection that the authorities do not want known. There can still be charges filed for manslaughter, even though it was an "accident", because there was negligence involved here.

Daily Horoscope for December 6

Taurus

If you gave up over what happened yesterday, you stand a better chance of sorting things out today. Talking to the person who failed to go for the teamwork may help to get a grip on the situation, especially if you manage to avoid recriminations or accusations. Instead, do your best to be as understanding and compassionate as possible. Or just let it go.
