Bang !! Just now waking up?:)

Many great doctors have retired already and went out of business. Many that are still in business can't do common things like surgery for example because of the huge liability insurance and with this Medicare and Medicaid mess doctors can't even do their job that they were trained many years to do. It's really bad now. Add Evercare and Aloha Care then you have one complete nightmare.

I just can't believe that the AMA never heard about it? Search Evercare or and Aloha Care on Google then you will see firsthand how frustrated the doctors are? There are lawsuits going on every place. The State really screwed up and someone must be making some big bucks under the table in order to let this nightmare continue. The doctors are hurting and the patients are really hurting also big time now.

Why can't any one trace the money trail? Look for big boats and huge mansions at the end of the trail. The State, the Doctors, the tax payers, the Federal Government and even the patients are paying out the nose and yet the AMA says they never heard about it before? Well, ok then I'm trying to believe you. Now you know.

Aloha

The "Status Quo" in Hawaii is the direct result of liberal politicians who jumped on the anti-Haole bandwagon in the mid-90's, set up ridiculous medical fee schedules and said "if you can't adequately service your patients, get out of Hawaii." They left, don't complain.

hope that Congress would pass Senate Bill 1776, the Medicare Physicians Fairness Act, to remedy some of the trouble.

But despite the backing of Hawaii U.S. Sens. Daniel Inouye and Daniel Akaka, the Senate killed the bill with a procedural vote Tuesday==

American citizens that want another government health care system are just plain "free loaders" and the 'give me for free crowd'. Government run Medicare is broke and "60 minutes showed how $60 billion dollars are being stolen each year by fradulent claims. Now the 'give me' crowd want another Government run health care system. Hope you can find a doctor who will accept you ie Medicare patients (30%) and more in the near future will find it hard to find a physician who will accept them for treatment. My Medicare doctor has told me I am grandfathered but he will not accept any more Medicare patients.

Hey Yep, are you high on something or just dumb? Rich people got there because they WORKED for it.They also start businees' the create jobs for yoyo's like you to get a pay check. Or do you live off of my pay check collecting from the goverment? And yes there is a lot of small business people providing jobs and working hard and are not rich. Just making a go everyday to make a difference. Maybe you could be rich someday, just shut your mouth work hard and mind you own business. Enogh said. Aloha

It's terrible, walk through the doctor reserved parking lots at Straub & Queens, and count the Mercedes, Porsches,Jags & Audi's, and if not take note the Toyotas are 2008 and up.

Then get a real estate agent to show you who owns the majority of homes in Kahala & Waialae Iki.

Yeh, it's really tough for them to make ends meet!

My family doctor knows us enough that he may keep us on when we reach Medicare age in the future since his daughter is a friend of my daughter since high school.

But as the federal government keeps cutting Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements to doctors and hospitals, I'm afraid that the doctors will only be able to keep Medicare and Medicaid patients until they start realizing that they are losing money and are actually making voluntary donations to their patients by keeping them on as patients.

By caring for non-profitable patients in the Medicare and Medicaid programs, they will someday be told at their doctors' educational seminars about opportunity cost in which they are losing revenue from potential younger insured patients' business they can't have and take on since they can only treat "X" number of patients a day. Doctors can only afford to keep their Medicare and Medicaid patients for so long and I know that even if your doctor tells you that you are grandfathered and he won't cut you loose, he will one day and you will be on your own to seek a new doctor.

Here on the Big Island, we already have a shortage of doctors. The Medicaid patients will probably be cut off first and then the Medicare patients will start to be cut off. The doctors will cut the Medicare patients they don't know on a personal level first and then the rest will be let go.

All this is because Obama and his gang of liberals want to insure the 47 million uninsured and can't see the whole picture. They will eventually be forcing the Medicaid and Medicare patients who are insured to lose their doctors. So in essence, it is the same as being uninsured.

Are you sure the cars don't belong to the families of the patients? Straub is one of the best hospitals in Hawaii so the wealthier families know where to go. I see a lot of nice expensive cars when I drive on Oahu streets so I guess everyone's rich in Honolulu. No, I don't assume that having an expensive car means that you are rich since many people just go for the image and have to make ridiculous monthly payments for their cars. If everyone had to pay cash for their cars, then it would be easier to associate expensive cars with wealth.

You write like you are envious of doctors. Doctors have to go to school longer than most other college majors and spend much more on their education so give them their dues. They deserve the money they make.

Do you have your own family doctor? Seems like you may be one of those who doesn't. You will appreciate your doctor when you have a serious illness.

By the way, your comment reminds of a time when I was riding in Kahala to visit a friend and one of my friends made a comment that "all the owners of the homes had 2 or 3 mortgages on their homes". I still don't know if that was envy but it sure seems that way today. I guess envy is still around.

Senators [hairdresser chasing] Inouye and ["uncle tom" marginalize the Hawaiians claims] Akaka are like a couple of old pair of shoes, worn out and out of style. Time to put an end to "career politicians" that ignore the little guy and kiss the a** of big business. Maybe we should also ask the AMA if they realize that Hawaii is part of the United States also. So much for all that extra education they receive in medical school. In 2009 Hawaii is still not taken seriously by most of the continental U.S. by our geographic isolation.

Guess we know why you moved to MA, your a haole doctor that found out that the locals here are NOT impressed just by the fact that your from the mainland. Too many transplants here expect to bring their LA or New York dog-eat-dog aggressive attitudes with them and attempt to bully the natives and change the state. The successful ones that stay n Hawaii, end up adopting our Aloha, mixed cultures and educate themselves in how we don't step on toes because we wear rubber slippers!

What a load of garbage.

So Dr. Bigshot doesn't have enough spending money after sending three of his kids to Iolani, paying the mortgage on his Hawaii Loa Ridge home, and paying his monthly dues at Waialae Country Club? Oh, boo hoo.

doctors deserve much more than they get....Much more.
They are a special person who a) has the ability to learn and practice, b) have the ability to listen to the constant whining or "sick" people, and c) can tolerate the endless amount of paperwork to collect their meager dues.
Remember they attend school for much longer than most post graduate studies, and have to keep current thru education to keep licenses.......and they can be sued by dumb asses with no appreciating. Medicine is not a perfect science as everyone is different and often don;t tell the whole story when in the doctors office.

Don't get jealous now. Most doctors are great doctors and they should make something out of the deal due to all the dedication and study they had to endure. From a scale of one to ten I would rate many at 15.

I guess if you don't like it then go back to school. Also many doctors donate their time and own money in extreme cases. Last night on TV, I was watching a little girl from the Philippines that had a head that weighted about 300 pounds and looked like a monster. One doctor flew her to Miami and spent months with his team working on her. They did this all free so my friend you are barking up the wrong tree.

doctors are nothing more than people who practice medicine... so its in a doctors best interest to handle rare cases, to practice...

why wouldnt doctors do that for patients within their own community with less of an extreme case... wont see that on t.v.
