Since when does carrying a gun make you a bad guy? I am licensed to carry, and I open carry my .40 cal everyday. Friday night at Walmart, with my fiance and daughter, but apparently some customer there thought I must have been planning on committing a crime so they called the cops. I was escorted outside. He checked my permit, it was valid. The officer proceeded to insult my gun and condescendingly and repeatedly tell me how much he disapproves of people being able to open carry (though he happened not to mention how he and all other officers open carry). There was nothing he could legally do about it, so after voicing his opinion, I was free to re-enter the store.

Where do people get this mixed up idea that the guy with the gun in a holster is a bad guy? I'm pretty certain the criminal would be hiding the gun.

Regretfully, I didn't get his name. Wish I had. And I agree with you about deterring criminals. I've read of many different incidents where it has done just that.

Good for you expressing your rights in public. I Unfortunately lost that right as a young man. Now into my mid 30's I haven't been in any kind of trouble for over 10 years. Still can't bear arms. But I could buy a crossbow and and still get the job done with no noise or any way to trace it. Really makes no sense.

Thanks. I'm going to continue to open carry everywhere that it is allowed, and I try to not have to deal with places where it isn't. I have a cousin in the same boat as you, he has told me how bad it sucks that he messed up before he even began his adult life.

I carry concealed, but to each his own.... Open carry does open you to stupid people calling the cops or possibly a bad guy trying to get your gun. Your element of surprise is gone. But anyway I still believe that more guns in good guys hands is better any day than the god guys not being able to carry and the bad guys having all the guns!!!

That is why I am going to get a holster for a second pistol in the very near future. It does seem though like we might see the day soon when law abiding citizens can no longer carry.

Most people today are weak, fearful and soft. They really believe government, and those employed by government are the answer. This includes representatives of law enforcement. Remember the reserves programs? They used to rely on armed volunteers to fill the law enforcement gaps, but not today. Poor and weak leadership is the problem, the people need to take back local government and tap into the vast intellectual talent pool for valuable creative and innovative solutions. Do better with less, it's the new reality.

Open carry you lose element of surprise. You are obviously an idiot for that. If you were trained tactically or thought that way you would realize your mistake. I also carry as well but i also have 8 + years as a military tactics trainer. The bad guys scout the area always and eliminate anything that poses a threat first... that means you die first without any opportunity to protect yourself. Yes it does deter bad guys BUT not always. Oh and the police always open carry because every call they may need the weapon and are training daily to use it. I have doubts you train that way even once a week.

Watch out guys, we got us a bad ass over here. This guy is not at war, and we're not dealing with trained killers or terrorist in Wal-Mart. Thank you for your service to this country but please chill out on this guy we are, after all, on the same side here solider.

I agree he makes sense but maybe just a little over board or coming down to hard on a citizen for open carry into a Wal-Mart.

These wanna be Rambo's open carry because they are pussy's. They aren't real men who could defend themselves with their fist. They need a weapon because they lack self confidence and the weaponery makes them feel powerful.
With the mentality of these types, we may all feel the need to carry a weapon. We may need a concealed weapon to protect ourselves from these types.
By the way, I've never been fearful of going into WalMart. Well, maybe a little at the check out when the lady tells me the total for my purchase.

Texas has a concealed carry law. You'd be surprised who's carrying, my 62 year old wife always carries her 38 with her. And yes, she knows how to use it.

Matters of the heart take an unexpected turn today. You might be strongly attracted to someone you've never looked at twice until now, or you could fall for someone who's much older or younger than you. If you're already involved in a relationship, either you or your partner will want to make it more exciting and spontaneous. Is this a suggestion that will go down well?
