Teachers cannot do magic when kids come to
school from chaotic/stressful homes. Sometimes
sibblings have different fathers. The New York
Post had an article touching on the situation in
the Bronx where 70% of children born were born
to unwed mothers in 2010.
Forget about monitoring sugar in sodas until
NYS works to strengthen the family.
Morals must be taught in school if we are ever to
have a chance to help children yet to be born.
A society cannot last if the family is wrecked.

You cannot teach morals in scool when the Lord and His Word are not allowed in school. And where children are taught they are nothing but animals evolved from monkeys!

You do not need a religion to have morals. Christianity is anything but moral as the bible is filled with scriptures which approve of extreme violence, slavery, sexism and domestic abuse.
Evolution does not teach that humans evolved from apes. It teaches that humans and apes share a common ancestor. It has scientific evidence to back it up.The bible has nothing. It is merely a book of Hebrew fables.

No religion belongs in public schools, not yours or mine.

Parents are supposed to do their job at home and TEACH morals and respect.
The way some some of these "kids" are so called brought up or raise themselves in the streets..
You have more of a shot getting a dog to be house broken my dog is house broken more then these kids......
Agreed. No matter what the living circumstances, parents or a single parent can teach their children morals and good manners. They must teach by example.
Because someone lives in a jungle it doesn't mean they have to behave like an ape.

Because some of us upstanding citizens don't understand ebonics....
So, are you ASSuming that only upstanding WHITE citizens speak proper English? or are you saying that because a person is not as wealthy or as upstanding as you that they don't understand proper English?

It seems that you really don't understand exactly what an upstanding citizen really is and frankly you might want to educate yourself on it!!!

I have to agree with him in part and I'm not being racist at all because around here, there are people of all races who articulate so poorly that you need to consult the urban dictionary to understand them. Think of how this affects their chances for employment.
However, speech doesn't indicate their value as a human being or how much of a so called"upstanding citizen" they are. I'm always skeptical of upstanding citizens as they often hide disturbing character flaws behind altruism and civic duty.

Some people from other countries speak better English than people living here. Anyone can learn
proper English. Reading....Reading....but you must want to learn. Maybe the schools do not want to touch this stuff....political correctness.

You need to understand that Native is not from Albany and she probbaly doesn't have to deal with a lot of the issues that we deal with.
It is more of a cultural problem than a racial problem. For some reason it is considered cool to speak nearly unintelligible English. I am only in my twenties and even I don't understand why that is supposed cool.

LOL My ex bf is Dutch and he can speak English perfectly, as well as five other languages, but he cannot write in English very well. My six year old can do better.

I'm not saying he didn't have a point, but it was the way it was stated.......I grew up for a time in Oakland, CA.......it was and still is predominately populated by Black people, they run from one end of the social ladder to the other......and at one time, the school district actually considered teaching Ebonics in the schools......and I remember how dumb I thought that was, but looking back, I can understand why.......they culturally do have a way that they speak.......and I think it has more to do with just who they are......but it in no way means they are not upstanding citizens!!!
