Young women killed in head-on crash were both intoxicated

Sara Epstein, 19, of Troy, and Alicia Quintana, 21, of Albany, died when Epstein's sport utility vehicle collided with an empty tanker truck at 4 a.m. Wednesday on Interstate-787 in Albany.

The wrong direction entrance the girls got on is very confusing and easy to do. Had these 3 tanker truck drivers not been driving 3 abroad in all lanes, maybe these girls would have had a chance. I'm not condoning the alcohol but these tank truckers are always driving reclessly on 787 south. My prayers are with the familys of these two young ladys...

Calling on all NYS residentsI want to first start out with a few facts and then proceed from there. Let me begin by saying the only difference between a vehicular homicide and any other homicides is the use of a motor vehicle as a weapon, as opposed to a gun or knife.This does not change in any way the elements required to be proved for the death of an innocent person.. As long as the elements for the crime can be proved, a vehicle homicide defendant can be tried for murder just like someone who uses a gun. But not in my sons case. A motor vehicle's purpose is to transport people from one place to another. When you are strapped in a vehicle you cannot escape that bullet. Technically a gun can only kill one person a vehicle should be considered more deadly can kill many at one time. If a charge has occurred and the death of an innocent person was the outcome of willful, wrongful operation of a vehicle such as reckless driving, dwi, speeding,ect. This charge should be looked at judicially with a bail schedule for someone who was charged with the death of an innocent person. this was not in my sons case. If you want to call it judgement or punishment than so be it but the only way a person is going to know that there is no tolerance in New York State is to set a bail minimum . why wait? how many more need to die. to prove there is a big problem . Why wait till they are convicted and sentenced why wait? Why wait till another innocent person is killed Why Wait? don't you think that is too late... Someone said that our culture needs to change well so do our laws.And they need to change now. Right up front when charged if you do this. Than this is what happens to you. Why wait. Franks law should be considered your chance to stop this now .No tolerance in New York State. If charged and there is a death of an innocent person the bail standard goes into effect. They need to know this right up front before they get in the vehicle if there is a standard bail minimum the society will know that there is no tolerance. We New York State let people out of jail into the society without a bail standard. The request for a minimum bail standard is not unconstitutional and is already been enacted in the united states.Finally I will speak to you as Franks Mother I make this appeal not to punish or judge or deny any defendant his rights but as an attempt to change our judicial system for the better and hopefully to save a life or lives. This is not about Frank anymore this is not about my loss anymore that cannot be changed. This does nothing for me However if Franks loss can save a life than his short life was not in vein. Yea I agree with Nicole on this one, I graduated with Sara, I used to be good friends with her at one time. You have no right" Mr. Albany Man" to talk about someone you dont even know, yea she made a fucking mistake, everyone makes fucking mistakes, just that night she made a big mistake, she was a great girl, who just made that one mistake in her life and cost her ,her life but it made all of us realize things are gonna happen like that and we move on but ridiculing a young girl who isnt even here anyone is so pathetic. Its just not right. Things like this make people realize that drinking and driving isnt worth it and it just puts ur friends and family members in a hard position, and losing a friend or loved one is very hard to do. I wasnt close with Sara before she died but it was one of the hardest things i had to do, was letting her go,and im still having trouble knowing she is gone and that her family are still without her. Its a tragic situation but we have to move on with our lives and learn to make good decisions in life, and hopefully people learn form this one.

Alicia was my cousins girlfriend and part of my family for six years, it kills me to see how insenstive people can be. She wasnt just some girl who died in an alcohol related accident, she was a beloved daughter,sister,girlfriend,and friend and is missed by so many. Its been almost a year and i hurt and cry everyday from missing her so much. Instead of using her accident to joke about and make racist comments you should learn from this. you should be ashamed of yourselves, i just pray for you and hope you NEVER feel this pain, i truly feel sorry for you. I am one of Alicias cousins. It really ticks me off to see how disrespectful ppl can be to the dead just because of a mistake. They are not here to learn from the mistake but they did pay with their lives. Both families have lost two wonderful ladies who made terrible choices in their life but who has ever been one to have never made a mistake in their entire life. As Jesus said once, "Let those without sin cast the first stone." There are adults that have gotten into cars drunk as well as letting their friends drive drunk etc. Who on this earth can judge anyone unless they are perfect. NOONE.
I miss my cousin every day. I know that we can never get her back and that truly is the sadest thing. If you ppl had any respect at all then you would no longer judge others without first looking at your own life. Is your life really that great?
