I find it sad that people just want to abuse these medications. I have terrible nerve damage that has led to RSD/CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) as well as MS. As a 21 year old you couldn't begin to imagine the hoops I have had to jump through to get the correct pain medications because so many people abuse their pain meds. I am on Opana er which by the way is specially made so people cannot abuse it. It contains a silicate I believe so when anything liquid or moisture it turns into a very thick gel almost like liquid nails. Thus making Opana virtually impossible to abuse, when snorted it gels in your sinuses etc. Also there is no way that you could inject iv. I know this because as a Psych Major I like to educate others about the dangers of these types of medications. I am also on a fairly moderate dose of roxicodone. The point is, when so many people abuse pain medications it makes it harder for people like myself to get the medication I need, thank god for my pain doctor but I had to pretty much sign my life away to get the medication. There is a huge difference between abuse and need. I cannot make it through the day without my medication and am on crutches until the day comes that I will require a wheelchair. Anyways I just find it upsetting that because of people who abuse narcotic medications people who really truly need them have such a hard time getting them. Its even worse that some of you have doctors that don't mind to give you tons and tons of pills when there are ways to control pain without scripts of hundreds of pills, granted some people need them but that should solely NEED them to manage their pain. And to those of you with doctors that are loose with their prescription pads should have their medical license's taken away. They are just adding to the drug abuse epidemic. Just remember when you abuse medication it makes it that much harder for someone like me to receive their essential medications.
I agree with you 1000% I have chronic pain as well. I have Fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, and nerve damage from back surgery, and as you stated very well, to get pain meds, you basically have to sigh your life away, and give up your first born, yet I know of many people, that have no medical problems, that go to doctors, and come out with prescriptions for all kinds of pills to use to just sell them or get high. It really does make it hard for those of us who really do need it for pain just to get through the day, and the nights, and to just raise our children without suffering and having to stay in bed and cry. I do not crush, snort, shoot, or whatever, and still sometimes, I feel as though I am treated like I am a drug seeker, when all I want is a some relief from all the pain I am going through.

It doesn't matter cuz people can abuse meds either way regardless, all we have to do is swallow more than recommended. And don't blame the abusers alone, it's the pain patients faults as well for wanting to sell their meds to make money.

But i have to admit..i am an addict..my body needs these medications so i can even function anymore!! Why cant they come up with a pain medication that works and is non-addictive????

It dose make getting your medication harder i'm sure.. but you shouldn't wish death on them because they're addicted to a substance..
THANK YOU!!! At least someone here is not going to demonize people for becoming addicted to these substances from getting legit scripts.

Waiting on a insurance clearence on it now. Need something to do that works. Dont want anything to do me.

Prescription drugs have overrun NC like heroin or something, its terrible.
Nope I have lived in NC the pill capital of the world is Florida. I live in Georgia and since Florida has been in the spotlight of having the biggest pain pill epidemic, people from Florida are moving to Ga. They even made a huge documentary about pill mills in Florida. Everyone knows thats the pill haven of the world! But you will see more pain drs opening up around the states bordering Florida.

Exalgo is great. I have told my story in a previous post. I also had commented on the folks that abuse meds that aren't prescribed to them. Some have commented that they buy from folks that have prescriptions already. To that, I say that if you can only imagine how expensive it is to have a chronic condition that requires medication. I know there are people out there that can't pay their bills because of being disabled and not having enough money to survive. I am sure that some may sell their pills to be able to pay the bills. there are plenty if junkies out there.

As an insured patient, I am lucky to have that coverage, but no insurance pays 100%. I also work 30 hours a week and have insurance to make up the extra 10 hours I cannot work because of my multiple sclerosis. I am much more fortunate than many others and I realize it.

What junkies do not understand is that patients with chronic pain DO NOT get "high" off the pills. My pills are actually working on the pain in my body instead of getting me high. If your body does not need the pills to relieve pain, then it makes you intensely high.

In a hard pinch I have heard of crushing the short acting pills, such as Percoset, to provide almost immediate pain relief. In a case such as this, if you get behind on your pain because you couldn't take your pills on time, it is very difficult to catch up with the pain. I have a friend woth advances cancer that had said had dine that. I got behind on my pain and I crushed the oxycodone and it helped very quickly. I absolutely do not recommend that anyone do this because that is not the intended administration. I think junkies do it to get high, though.

Junkies aren't smart...at all. They will not take responsibility for their actions and love to blame others for their problems. That is why they are junkies.

I have lived for thirty two years withTrigeminal Neuralgia, considered the most painful medical condition known. PLEASE do not take this as me saying your condition us not painful. What I AM saying is even with your condition you are so over medicated it is a travesty. You take in the neighbor hood of ten times the narcotic I take and I manage to get by. The amount you are taking will kill your liver in ten years it less. So don't come on here criticizing these people when in alt of ways you are exactly like them!

I have to agree w/you!! I have chronic sever neuropathy that has now transformed into severe neuritis. I need my pain meds. And I live in the most conservative state in the US. It's hard to get pain meds even through pain management. I beg you people to please stop abusing pain meds so people who really have to have them to even get out of bed in the morning.. I need my pain meds and abusers will ruin this for me. I won't have any kind of life at all. Thank you!

I just got a prescription for exlago because of chronic migraines, a cyst on my brain, and other issues. I think it's terrible people abuse meds that actually help people. I've taken everything to try and help my headaches and this is all that helps. I'm also on Valium and other antidepressants. Diaudid is ALL that would help me.

Its good to hear it has helped your husband. they want me to get off oxicotin 2-60 mg daily and on the Exalago. I am concerned about over laping pain and withdrawals until the Exalago starts working. Did your husband have any troubles? I would appreciate any comments with similar experience.

I was just recently put on this Med. I have been on everything form Fentanyl to now Exalgo. And golf I can only tell you this. It is working for me. I do stop have Norco 10's that I can tar 3x a day if I need them, but why take it if I don't need it. I will say this. As most of you that have chronic pain(and I do mean chronic pain) can agree we all over time, can and do build up a tolerance to these kinds of medicine's. I have a TBI, DDD, 2 bad knees, cervical stenosis, complex cluster migraines and an acute seizure disorder. I come onto this site to find if ppl are getting relief from this Med and I have to fight thru countless posts of ppl trying to find new and more inventive ways to get high. All I want to know is this. Is anyone gaining relief? And if so how many days did it take to build up in your system to where you were painfree or at least close to painfree?
