Let provide a detailed list of the "Civic Minded" and their "Contribution" to Lincoln County:
Pheeze Kemper - A selfless display of cowardice in leadership regarding TIF and TDD
Elaine Luck - Gross incompetence while in office as detailed by 2 state audits, a total lack of ethics and a 5th amendment plea.
Jerry Fox - No ethics, improper check writing and uncanny television presence
Sean O'Brien - Total disregard for the rule of law and lack of ethics and conflict of interest.
Dan Dildine - Infamous breach of jury selection process resulting in multiple appeals of criminal cases.
Gary Cockrum - See Pheeze about the TDD
Monte Cannon - Supreme Slum Lord and architect of run amok demands on an already inadequate infrastructure
Clay Creech - Slum Lord Trailer Park Operator
Warren Albright - Infamous for buying property on the courthouse steps, placing multiple repo trailers on them and destroying your neighbors property value all in the name of "making a buck".
Jesse Waugh - Slum Lord inside Troy City limits.
Christie Henke - Newly elected Treasurer that needs to retain an attorney to explain what her job is as defined by Missouri State Statute.
Ed Schieffer - The Farmer's/Unions/Minority party elected state representative that caters to special interests, panders to insignificant political causes in the name of a photograph in the paper while having a convenient memory loss about the majority of his constituents and the campaign promises made and mailed.
Shall I go on?
Perhaps the most disturbing thing is that there are a LARGE number of people in this community that think these examples are OK. I think a song is in order.........

"Just some good ol boys, never meant no harm........"

THE MEN AND WOMEN THAT YOU CALL THE GOOD OL BOYS ARE HARD WORKING CIVIC MINDED PEOPLE WHO HAVE DONE ALOT FOR LINCOLN CO. I WANT TO THANK THEM!!<quoted text>

We are the fastest growing county in the state. Which means we need to step it up. The people are here, the students are here.

If you want to see improvement, stop making excuses, be proactive. Vote in the tax levy for the school so they maintain some value. Stay on the elected officials to find some buisness, get P & Z in, and work to improve what we have.

By the way, I have lived here my whole life, in a house, and don't own any Carharrt. But my parents are still considered (after 40 years) transplants. That does need to change. Where you pay taxes is your home, regardless of how long you have lived there. No one can say they have more rights to a community based on years present, that's a ridiculus way to look at things.

It might be stupid, but that is the way some of these loser hoosiers look at it. The same attitude that some of them used to ripoff the taxpayers. Did you see the excuses being offered on this BLOG? I could be kind and call them moral relativists, but I think IDIOTS is more appropriate.

I believe what they are trying to say is that those who "screwed things up" also paid taxes which, in your words, entitled them to speak up also. The difference between them and you is that they also took ACTION to get involved instead of just complaining and calling people names. So, who made the biggest impact? Whether good or bad, they did because actions speak louder than words.

Why? I'll tell you.
1.) Not being from here makes you automatically outcast. My tax tax dollars are just as good as yours.
2.) I will gladly forgo a large open space in favor of basic infrastructure and services. I don't want malls or mega plex, just basic services competitively priced.
3.) Money is not the issue for me and I'm tired of being made the target of jealous harassment because I have been a responsible adult with my finances.
4.) I have lived in other rural parts of the country. Only here have I witnessed such ill will and disregard towards one another.
5.) I want to have a discussion with another person that speaks in words of more than two syllables AND without profanity or obcenity.
I have no regrets and you'll have another empty property not producing tax revenue....when YOU need it most.
Not true - whoever buys your property will pay taxes.

TAXPAYER, because thats all that really matters.

You are an idiot, have you not heard of the housing crisis or the economy, few people are buying homes or property and it is not expected to pick back up for several years. That home/property will sit vacant, possibly for years. They dont have to pay taxes on it, only file bankruptcy.Nice long term thinking hoosier.
It is people like you that refuse to listen and bank on the "get out" attitude that will bring this county to its knees.

Thank you for lining your pockets.
Thank you for rejecting new ideas, like P and Z, a rec center, TDD and TIF here in Troy.
Thank you for NOT supporting the schools.
Thank you for continuing to accept the old and rejecting the new.
I think that should just about cover it!
No, I think you missed a few:

Thank you for not being a sucker, and voting for double taxation on the TDD

Thank you for not being a sucker, and voting for the TIF.

Thank you for not being a sucker, and voting twice against RIII getting more taxes to waste.

Thank you in advance, for dumping the current Board Of Education in lieu of someone who cares about your tax money.

Thank you in advance, for voting down, for the 3rd time, the levy increase, and not conceding to the intimidation tactics of the RIII proponents.

Now THAT... should just about cover it!

Have a Nice Day!!

I got out after the last election and I'm thankful I only lost 40000 on what we paid for our house back in 2003. Pretty sad when you have to take that kind of loss on your house, but we saw the writing on the wall. I can say it was well worth it and we are now living in St. Charles. The good thing with the housing market is that we were able to buy a big house in a great school district. I have many good friends in Lincoln Co and I wish the county the best, but I have my doubts. All I know is that my family is better off how things turned out.
Reverse Migration

#36 Mar 9, 2011
Should this levy fail, you will see a reverse migration back down Highway 61. This will be welcome to some in Lincoln County, but the consequences for this community could not be more serious. Loss of families, loss of an already inadequate tax base, a brain drain on professionally educated individuals and so on...

You have a county in dire straights financially, according to the Missouri State Auditor. Should the passage of this levy not be priority one for this community? How can people say this levy is not needed given the evidence that is now public knowledge?

Rick Wilcockson - Newly elected County Clerk that decides it is acceptable to carry a firearm at work in the County Courthouse.

Sherriff Mike Kriegbaum - Current County Sherriff that loses contract to house federal prisoners due to an escape and that can't understand why he can't have a budget to run an empty jail.

Don Thompson and The Lincoln County Journal - Fabricate a story about a "historic agreement" between Peoples Bank and Trust and the Federal Bank Regulators when in fact, as reported by the STL Post-Dispatch and STL Business Journal that the Fed actually issued a repeat warning and ultimatum to PBT to clean up the balance sheet and reserves or face takeover.

Don Collier, Jr.- Trailer Park Owner in MM that openly abuses the local tax base by "packing the NECAC'ers in" and receiving "payments from NECAC" for doing so while claiming that he is providing a "much needed service" to the residents of Lincoln County.

You are so right! Actions do speak louder than words. Actions like....

Ripping off the public.

Voting down P and Z.

Rejecting the TIF and TDD here in Troy.

Voting down public libraries and a rec center.

Committing voter fraud.

Yes sir, they did all these actions because they thought they were ENTITLED to do so!

This is only true when you move into a small community...and it is true irregardless of where that small community is at.
And, you aren't an "outcast"...you are an "outsider."
Fed up wrote:

What "basic infrastructure and services" are you lacking? As to competitiveness, when you live in a non-metropolitan area, you can expect to pay more. Years ago, you could expect to pay upwards to 30% more in Troy for food, for example.
Fed up wrote:
3.) Money is not the issue for me and I'm tired of being made the target of jealous harassment because I have been a responsible adult with my finances.
So, are you saying that you, personally, have experienced "jealous harassment" from Lincoln County? What does that even mean?
Who is jealous of you?
Who is harassing you?
Are you referring to what someone may have written on Topix?
This doesn't even make any sense.
Fed up wrote:

I've lived here over thirty years. I'm an outsider. I've never seen this "ill will and disregard" you refer to...quite the opposite actually.
Again, are you referring to what a handful of people on Topix are saying?
Fed up wrote:

I have no regrets and you'll have another empty property not producing tax revenue....when YOU need it most.
As to your property...well, you'll be paying taxes on it until you sell it, then the new owner will be paying taxes on it.

There are plenty of folks who can hold stimulating, articulate, and invigorating discussions. But most of us have either left Topix, or post less and less.

You basically have four groups of folks represented on Topix.
1)Young kids: that's where you get the silly, vulgar, off the wall stuff.
2)Average folks who just like to communicate about a variety of things.
3)Folks who are active citizens and have strong opinions about their community.(some don't perform as well on a board, such as this, as others but try to explain their views with passion.
4)The local "good ole' guys n' gals" (i only use that because folks will relate to it). These folks don't like being challenged or exposed to their less than ethical behavior...whether in politics, government, or business.

Regards...
