Does anyone know what, if any, businesses might be coming to the new Crossroads Boulevard/ Crossroads Center? Not speculative mind you, real knowledge please :) Hope everyone had a great holiday! Did they ever get the planning and zoning worked out with Moscow Mills?
None yet

None yet to my knowledge....but it won't matter anyway because MM granted 100% TIF. So there won't be any tax benefit for 8-10 years.

Someone told me that they are building a truck stop there.

Well a truck stop would make sense, since the other two are no longer on the highway, you have to get off and travel on side roads. In order for any revenue to be generated, which is needed badly, there must be a tax base, let's get a tax base in so we can grow and not be the laughing stock of the other counties around us.

Yea, I've heard all kinds of different things, from an amusement park to nothing and everything in between. I just am so surprised after months of being done, that I've not even seen or heard of ground breaking or even anything more than here say.

As far as the tax benefit, I'll have to worry about that later... Just hoping to get a gas station to start.:)
No plans

Folks, there are no plans to do anything. No plot plan has been filed with MM zoning. The owner of the property is in Chesterfield, MO and is hurting financially.

Nothing folks, nothing is going in there until the economy turns around.

Why put in a gas station, if gas hits $4.00 a gallon no one will be able to afford it. Thanks GW

I may be wrong, but I believe I read that a developement company owned by the Schnucks people were investors in that project or involved somehow. So my guess is a Schnucks complex similar to Wentzville.

Gerry Schoenfelder was the principal partner of Crossroads Center LLC that put up around 6 million of their own money for the intersection. He died on Oct 6th 2010. He is survived by 10 children and several of them work for Crossroads Center also. They will carry on with the development. They have too much of their own money tied up in it to let it just sit there. A Chesterfield, MO land broker was selected to try to find tenants for the property. Not sure if that company is still dealing with it if they have money issues themselves.

Just perfect. The principle visionary for the largest development in Lincoln County dies 3 months ago? Wonderful. You mean to tell me that we pinned our hopes to a dead man? Who is the local individual with a clue? And don't tell me Ed, he couldn't find let alone spell progress.

Somehow I find this all too ironic. Maybe an omen? let's see...dead county looks to dead man for help.
Great. 100% TIF for the deceased.

The intersection has been improved and that is what is important. Crossroads Put up their OWN money for this developement. Something will be built it might just take time. If Ed did have a part in this who cares? At least no more childern will die trying to cross Hwy 61!

Reviving this old thread as there seems to be something happening. There is a trailer with a sign wrap advertising for space. I didn't have time to check out the site map, as there was traffic behind me at the exit.
Three Years

It has been THREE YEARS since the overpass at Highway U was opened. THREE YEARS and not so much as a fruit/vegetable stand opened up to generate revenue. No the economy is NOT to blame.

As the foot dragging for development has continued, areas to our south have developed more and more retail opportunities. Yes, even in the face of a "bad economy," new stores and other commercial/retail outlets have opened. Meanwhile NOTHING has happened at Highway U or Lincoln County for that matter.

As was pointed out on this very blog months ago, NO ONE, not one commercially viable endeavor is going to be placed at that intersection anytime soon. No commericial lender is going to finance development at the location, given the general economic decline in the area, including tax base.

I'm confident State Rep (State Senator wannabe) Ed Schiefer is working on bringing commercial development to this prime location. These things just take a lot of time and effort and will resume after this year's Lincoln County Fair concludes.

This county is ran by hicks. Backward hicks. I have no problem spending my money in Wentzville. They seem to use my taxes in a good way.

No, he is not. He has had 8 years to do this and during this time, has not done one thing for his constituents.
