Has anyone got any comments on why the sheriff of Lincoln County is leaving office early?

Not sure of the specifics, but, I've heard that he is going to be a detective or something with the FBI very soon. Good for him if you ask me. I don't blame him at all. He is a great person and I will miss him as Sheriff.

STLToday.com has an interview/announcement today...he is leaving effective Monday morning to pursue what they call a position with a private company whose name cannot be diclosed due to the nature of the job.

Sheriff Torres did a lot of good things for Lincoln County. I hope he does well in his new position and I only hope the person taking his place as Sheriff is as good if not better.

Lincoln County isn't the quiet little county it was 10 or 15 years ago. Whether we like it or not, we are a growing community and with growth, trouble comes with good........Best wishes to Sheriff Torres.

I also wish the young Sheriff the best
but I have heard that he has been offered a very large sum of money for Centerfold in the Spring Issue if Playgirl Magazine.
Maybe this is the reason for having to keep the new position so quite.
Should I be the first to say
"Happy Spring 2008"

Listen up all Parents...
I am a old timer.
Research this if you wish.
Paramedic is not getting into trouble because Mr. John Cottle is a big wheel with the ambulance district and 911.
Mr.John Cottle is running for Sheriff of Lincoln County in 2008 term.
He would of took Torres place but if someone found out about the connection with the Paramedic it could loose him the Election of "2008"
The prosecuting attorney has been in office for to long now as to many has rubbed his back.
Wait up Lincoln County before it's pulled over your eyes again.

Obvisouly you have been missed informed on a few facts. That's ok, like they say, "Some people should let others think they are ignorant, instead of opening there mouth and removing all doubt."

I'm sick and tired of the FEW people who make malicious, ingnorant and uninformed statements. If you want to make such statements, then should at least do a little research.

First, John Cottle's only relationship to the ambulance district is his interaction with Ambulance District through his duties as the Major of the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department. John has never been on any Ambulance Board or worked for 911.

Second: If you want to put a conspiracy together, then try this. If you look at Mike Krigbaum's My Space page, you will see that some members of the Lincoln County Ambulance District are supporting him as a candidate in the 2008 Sheriff's race. Furthermore, Mike Krigbaum's biggest supporters are the Chief of the Troy Police Department(Chief Jeff Taylor) and the head of the Lincoln County Ambulance District(Jim Holloway). Oh yea, did I fail to mention that Jim Holloway's wife is also the secretary for Chief Jeff Taylor.

Third: A little deeper. If you do a little research, you will find that Mike Krigbaum's campaign website is being developed by the same person that does the Lincoln County Ambulance District.

Fourth: The man with the gun was never put into handcuffs by the Troy Police Department. In fact, he was allowed to drive himself to their police station, while the high school kid was placed into a police car by TROY POLICE.

If you want to point a finger, you might want to get some relevant facts BIG BEN!

Let's just point out the fact that JOHN COTTLE's WIFE works as a secretary for Chief Jeff Taylor as well.

Thanks for the info Miss Busybody. Nice of you to embarrass his wife on the public forum. Why don't we post all YOUR dirty laundry. Oh wait, you've probably already told everyone who cares less all about yourself.

It's amazing that some people can only speak negatively. Torres did a wonderful job in office. It is unfortunate what happened to the two boys that were shot. Torres did not pull the trigger, but because of his position, all of you know he had to take the position he did behind his officer. Would you not expect your boss to stand up for you? I am not trying to trivialize the loss of those two young men. Not at all. I only know about the case from what I have read, and honestly do not have an opinion on guilt or innocence. I just know it was tragic for everyone concerned.

Torres did a lot of good for the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department that many of you are not mentioning. Maybe you don't remember the time when Jim Johnson ran the department and it was in shambles or the guy before him. I think his name was Rodgers. What a mess.

With regard to Mrs. Torres, I know her to be a hard working, dedicated woman. Anyone who would slander her simply because of their feelings towards her husband is small minded and should find something better to do with their time. I wish the best for the Torres family, in all matters.

Well first of all I have to totally disagree with everything that you have to say about Mike Krigbaum. I think that it doesn't matter who supports him in his campain, where they work for the Ambulance district or the local garage. That has nothing to do with conspiracy. He works for Troy City so there for he IS going to know quite a few people in the Ambulance District, 911 operations, Sheriff's Dept, and the Fire department. When you work in this field as long as he has you tend to develope friends in all different fields of work. To have a better community you need to ALL work together. Along with the FACT that you seem to think is bad for him to have the same person that developed the Ambulance District web site developing his goes right along with the FACT like I stated eariler about working together to make a STRONGER community. John Cottle also has CONNECTIONS with the Ambulance District, 911 Operations, Troy City (via his wife), Sherriff's Dept, and The Fire Department. The reason I am making this statement is for the same fact that he works in the same field as Mike just a different department. So who's to say that Cottle is any better than Krigbaum.

It seems you make reference to how long Mike has been in this profession. Well, I know Mike's family and he was out of law enforcement for almost twenty years! But he will tell you he has been a cop since 81'. And in that time period, he ran two business's into the ground. You might refer to that as bankruptcy! All the people I know that are cops say that it is a business. I dont want Krigbaum being in charge of several million dollars that are used to help my community! Do you? If he were to get elected, it will take us back to the primitive days. Some of you might remember Jim Johnson.... need I say more?

I remember all too well the days of Jim Johnson running the sheriff's department. I don't like speaking bad about people when they are not in front of me to defend themselves so I won't say a lot about Jim at this moment, so let me just say: In steps Torres and he truly did a great job at turning everything around financially. By the time Johnson left office, there weren't too many people that had respect left for him.

I donít think you know Mike as well as you claim. If so, you would not be surprised to know many of his supporters are former employees and business associates.
