The citizens of Lincoln County can judge for themselves.

I was saddened that the employees had to work in these conditions.

I would like to remind you that MS ASKEY FIRED half of the staff in Novmeber!!! She is reaping what she sowed now and blaming everyone else!!!! This is absolutely ridiculous.
Those 7 folks were forced to find other employment or collect unemployment on January 1st!!!!! They had to do what was right for their family. Why is this getting twisted?
The people she fired were all the ones in charge of most of the stuff. WHY is this anyone else's fault but hers?????????
I feel sorry for the employees now that do not appreciate being put on display like animals!!!!!!
I think John Hunt is thinking with the wrong head now, people. Too bad. I thought we were getting somewhere with the transparency.

You truly need to know the facts before you write anything. I never spoke directly to Leah Askey to get permission to video the PA's office. I had the new County Clerk ask her for me. Remember G. John Richards apparently took the phone system with him. I interviewed no one while in the building. So if you fail to understand the facts contained in the video, I can't help you!

Also please remember that When Mr. Volmert was appointed Auditor, it was his responsibility by state statute (Rsmo 55.160) to validate and maintain the county inventory as maintained by the County Clerk. It appears now that this was not done and that Mr. Volmert did not perform his duties or that Ms. Luck performed hers. Fresh start folks. Commissioner Colbert, take a complete inventory of all County assets, have it audited & certified and then move forward. Buy nothing until you know what you already have.

And remember as we move forward what happens when incompetent people are elected.

Just like Ms. Askey said at the County Commission meeting - she's bringing her own stuff (furniture, etc). Richards took back the stuff he brought with him from his private practice and he took it with him when he left. I'm sure Askey would take her stuff back with her as well if she did not get re-elected. Why is it wrong for Richards to do exactly what Askey is doing? I'm so tired of the double standards in this county. Quit your whining!

The County should pay to have furniture in the offices. That way, when someone leaves, the County keeps the property and we won't have these issues again. This is what happens when you do things cheap, not frugal. Now, we don't know who has what, what telephone is owned by whom, and frankly, why the Commissioners allowed personal property to be used for County business is just plain wrong.

Time to join the 21st century.

There's a difference between cheap and frugal. Also, nobody is looking for a "pretty" environment, but a functional one that will last. Cheap desks will need to be replaced. Quality office furniture cost $ but lasts.....and has been known to stay put too.

I have no idea what that video is supposed prove other then that the New prosecuter called everyone in several weeks ago and told them that they all would have to submit job applications and basically be re-hired. Please...who would want to work under those conditions. I still do not see how she even had the right to do that before her term started. So people jumped ship or got booted. No real story here. Heaven help us all

Same answer as on another post. Paperless doesn't work in court. Electronic copies are not admissible.

Wouldn't you think that a PA that had been in office in Lincoln County for nearly 20 years would have more integretiy and heartfelt feelings for his county than to make deplorable conditions for his successor? Even having lost the election, it certainly says something of his character to allow the office to be left in a shambles. Wouldn't he want what was best for the county by trying to make an easy transition so that the unlawful would continue to be prosecuted. Instead, G. John has stooped very low allowing his defeat to discolor his own name and the office he represented. Sore-loser, wouldn't you say????
I can't believe that he has been using the same desks, computers, and phones for the past 20 years? Didn't the county pay for some of that? Was his salary such that he had to pay for those items himself? I don't think so.
All of you that are contining to bash Askey, make a visit to the PA office and see for yourself. Just ask youself how you would work as an attorney in the mess that was left---I have been there and it is despicable. The filing system is currently card board boxes for some files---the others lie loosly on the floor. Very sad and childlike! Only in Lincoln County!!!!

lies!!! this is lies!!!!! the office was not in dissaray until askey fired everyone that kept that office running! dont blame g john. nice try though. childlike is lying and trying to convince people Richards is one thibg when hes not. I wouldnt be surprised if he sued askey for defamation. Not that the general public isnt surprised. She needed someone to distract us from her incompetency.

Why cant you believe hes been using the same desks for 20 years?? he is cheap!! He is frugal!!! Just because Askey has a silver spoon un her mouth doesnt give her a right to spend MY money like she does her own!!!!!! I own furniture at my house almost 100 years old!! Lots of it that still is in MINT condition. i just cant believe Askey is actually ripping on Richards for not spending more money when all I heard during her campaign was how much he wasted!!!! i wonder how long Richards will be her scapegoat? 1 month? 6?
oh btw- richards doesnt set the cases for trial doofus!!! the judges do.
