I am a very concerned citizen and tax payer. Is our local school district truly headed in the right direction. Our the school administrators really looking out for Trinity or is this just another administration using Trinity for their own personal glory? What are your thoughts?

I think the school officials are doing a great job. Sure there are several areas that still need improvement but overall things have really been better this year. For those who chose to complain, have you even been to any of our schools and truly evaluated the state of things?
I think not....if you had you would know that this year things both academically and physically are much improved.
My advice to those who chose to tear down our schools instead of support them ..get off your but and go visit some of our campuses and see for YOURSELF what is really going on instead of listening to rumors and hearsay, you may be pleasantly surprised at what you discover.

Average Joe for your information I'm very involved w the schools and my kids attend Trinity ISD. I have been observing this for quite some time. Local Traditions are not respected. People from this community are not respected. As far as the administration goes, cliques have been formed and it's very obvious. We have school officials who want even attend public functions. The only time they are seen is when it benefits them. Average Joe you need to wake up. And u talk about the physical side of things! Have seen the Intermediate school our administrators allow our kids to go to school in? Wasn't it condemned a few years back? Wonder why it was condemned?

I'm very involved in the schools as well. What cliques are you speaking of? What public functions have not been attended? The fair? The crawfish boil? The Lion's club???? What events do you expect them to be at outside of their normal duties such as parent nights, football games, volleyball games, scholarship nights, school bard meetings? Have you informed the school board that our administrators are not doing their jobs....no you have not-I k ow this because I have attended every board meeting the last 2 years. How many have been to??
The Intermediate school is a disgrace- a problem that was passed down by Bobby Rice. The current administration is addressing the issue- maybe you should attend the next couple of school board meetings and find out for yourself what the plans are.
The other buildings in the district:
LES- new bathroom stalls and sinks, new student furniture, etc
TMS/THS- new sinks, new toilet seats, painting in classrooms and outside, new student desks and tables at the HS, new electrical plugs in the AG shop, new electrical plugs in the girls' locker room, new lockers in both HS locker rooms, new locks on gym doors, etc..
I'm very much awake and obviously more aware of what actually goes in the overall district than you.

It's very obvious that Average Joe is a administrator at Trinity ISD, Spouse, or somebody who benefits from the administration. All these improvements that u are talking about or improvements that should have been done from day one of this administration. These type of improvements have been and were in the process before this administration. Wow, there is much more needed than what u give them credit for!

I recomend that the administration and board keep in mind that the people of this community are its support base and what keeps them in office and employed. If they truly want to make a difference take consideration on how the community feels. Not just the wants and desires of hand picked commitee members. What's going on is no different than the administrators before. Playing Politics will come back to haunt you around here.

Concerned,
What is your real concern? It seems that something is unspoken. Maybe if you put a voice to your concern specifically there might be a better understanding of what you are trying to accomplish with your questions.

Actually, it's pretty common knowledge what average joe is talking about. And the first thing they fixed was the education of our kids, and now they are moving on to the buildings! I'm ok if they pushed off things you can buy ie desks, toilets and paint for things you can't buy: a good education.

Concerned: the administration is doing an outstanding job. The supt. was hired after a thorough search. Is there bad blood here or did you want the job and did not apply. Aren't you a substitute teacher at TISD? If so why would you "bite the hand that feeds you"? There are a lot of positives to be proud of at TISD. There are many more coming. I for one am proud of the direction of our schools. Things are looking up. It seems that every time trinity is moving in the right direction, someone tries to derail it. Not this time! Instead of being the problem, try helping solve the problem. America has freedom of speech, and you have exercised yours as have I, now lets work together to solve any problems!

I suggest you join the facilities committee. Anyone can join it and i know this because my relative joined it in the past. Just call the administration office. Also the district has to have money to fix things. Yes we could use another intermediate school but a bond election would have to decide that.

The schools in Trinity are really, really bad. I'm in college right now, but I went to school in Trinity almost all my life. There are things that I'm learning in school now that were supposed to have been taught to me in High School, but never were because the teachers just let the kids do whatever they want. There are a few teachers who are really good, but most aren't.

I also went to school in Groveton my last two years in High School and their schools are way better than Trinity ISD. The kids behave because they can actually be punished, the food is really good (unlike Trinity's food), I learned a lot in class, and they offered way more classes to take.

I think the worst thing about going to school in Trinity was the fact that kids who were really bad would get punished - or told that they were going to be punished - and tell their parents, whom in turn would go up to the school and bitch about it. That would effectively get the child out of trouble. So people would go around doing whatever they wanted and there were no consequences.

I don't know if the school is any better now (I highly doubt it), but I do know that Groveton ISD is still way better than Trinity ISD could ever be.

It's kind of hard to join a committee that's hand picked. Same old same old.

If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. The administration for TISD is working very hard to improve the schools. The teachers & administrators can not do it all. More parents need to become involved with their children's academics.

Discipline is getting better, but it takes time. Rome was not built in a day. Nor will the problems that were left by a lacking administration be changed over night. TISD was a product of the "good old boy" way of thinking. The previous administration just put patches over issues instead of addressing them fully...i.e. Intermediate school campus.

It takes a village to raise a child. Instead of everyone complaining. COme out to the campuses and volunteer or mentor.

Yes, this is all true. Many kids from TSD have a very hard time with college classes. Over the last 10 years, many have left in order to put their children in a better school district. I hope the district is improving!

My son went to TISD and he did just fine. He went to College and has a degree and has a job using it. Students who put in the work and stay focused thrive from our schools. There are teachers that really care about what kind of students that they send out into the world. These days there are too many students that just don't care. They want everything handed to them and just get passed on through. And the parents and grandparents do need to get involved and support the teaching staff. Yes there are things that need improving just like everywhere else. If they say it takes a village to raise a child then it has to start with the parents and guardians at home. We are losing discipline in our schools because mommy and daddy think their child does not wrong. No student is perfect and they need the guidance and discipline when they make mistakes at school to lead and help them through life. Believe me the graduates, if they graduate, do not want to stay in Trinty for minimum wage or to hang out on the street corners or parking lots. Get real people. It will just be getting worse the next 4 years for sure.

Well said! The parent has their child 15 hours a day, the teacher only has them for one or two. I feel a parent has no right to complain about their child's education if they are not involved in their child's school life. If they are, then their complaints will be listened to, and handled depending on the situation.

Our scores are low in Trinity, so is are actual parent involvement. Since when did raising a child become the schools role?

The bathrooms at school are vandalized! It's not a teacher or a person breaking in writing all over the stalls- it's the students! But everyone loves to complain about that!

I talk with my child all the time about making good choices, and how to deal with anger and respect to adults, and my child has not had to go to any principal's office! I also taught my child how to count, and he knew his alphabet and numbers up to twenty before he went to pre-k. Most of the students in his grade did not know how to do that! Those pre- k and kindergarden teachers are amazing for having to put up with what they are given, and still try to teach what they are supposed to.
